Overview

The CONGA floor lamp by FARO is an interior luminaire that fits well in living rooms, bedrooms, and hospitality spaces where direct lighting and a sober design are sought. Its steel body in a matte black finish and its black fabric shade deliver a clean visual result, with no distracting elements. It is a lamp that does not draw excessive attention, but organizes the space in a clear way.

In a living room or dining room, a floor lamp like this allows you to create differentiated lighting zones without relying on the ceiling. It can be placed next to an armchair, beside a sofa, or in a corner where general lighting does not quite reach. The result is a more comfortable and balanced atmosphere.

FARO is a Spanish manufacturer with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Its collections combine technical criteria with attention to design, and are present in both homes and hospitality projects at an international level.

Installation and specifications

This floor lamp rests directly on the floor, with no need for anchors or ceiling or wall installation. No construction work is required. Simply place it in the desired location and plug it into a standard power outlet. The cable should be kept tidy and away from walkways to avoid tripping hazards. It is recommended to use an E27 LED bulb with a maximum power of 15 W, which is not included with the product.

To clean the metal body, a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte black finish. The fabric shade can be cleaned with a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner on low power. Do not place the lamp near heat sources or in areas with high humidity, such as the bathroom, unless the space is well ventilated.

Design and use

The CONGA collection is born from the work of Faro Lab, FARO's in-house design team, with the aim of creating pieces that work both in residential environments and in hospitality projects. The lamp has a height of 1530 mm, which makes it a piece with a tall presence within the space, without appearing disproportionate in rooms of standard dimensions.

The body is made of steel with a matte black finish. This type of finish does not reflect light, which gives a more discreet feel and allows the lamp to integrate into different interior styles without creating a harsh contrast. In a bedroom with dark furniture or in a living room with a modern aesthetic, it goes almost unnoticed as an object, but fulfills its lighting function perfectly.

The shade is made of black fabric. This combination of materials, steel and fabric, provides a contrast of textures without the result feeling overdone. The fabric slightly softens the light and directs it downward, creating a warm focus in the reading or relaxation area. In a small dining room, it can complement the central lighting and add warmth without the need to install anything on the ceiling.

In spaces such as a long hallway or an entrance, a floor lamp like this can visually mark a reference point. The hallway is an area that is sometimes poorly lit with fixed light points, and placing this lamp there helps to distribute light better without any construction work.

Although it is not the primary use, there are spacious bathroom interiors, of the suite type, where a lamp of this style can make sense as both a decorative and functional element, as long as the area is away from water and well ventilated.

The 400 x 400 mm base offers sufficient stability for everyday use. The net weight of 1.67 kg makes it easy to move if you need to reorganize the space. No tools are required, and it does not need to be fixed to the floor or any structure. This makes it especially useful in rentals or renovations where you want to improve lighting without interfering with the existing electrical installation.

In kitchens where space allows, a floor lamp in a corner near the living area can visually separate the work area from the relaxation area. In kitchens open to the living room or dining room, it helps to define different atmospheres within the same space.

Compatibility with E27 LED bulbs of up to 15 W keeps energy consumption low. The fabric shade, combined with a warm-light bulb, produces a calm interior atmosphere, without the harshness of direct white light. For a bedroom or a reading room, that type of light is more restful and less intense than overhead lighting.

In hospitality projects, hotels, or tourist apartments, the neutral aesthetic of the lamp facilitates its integration into different types of décor without the need to adjust the rest of the furniture. Matte black is a color that does not age visually very quickly and that combines well with light wood, dark wood, or metallic surfaces.

Questions and answers

Does it require any type of anchor or floor fixing to remain stable?

No. The lamp is supported by its own weight on the floor, thanks to a 400 x 400 mm base. It does not require fixing, screws, or any type of installation. Simply place it in the chosen location and plug it in.

What type of bulb is compatible and is it included with the product?

It accepts an E27 socket bulb with a maximum power of 15 W. The bulb is not included and must be purchased separately. An LED bulb is recommended for efficient consumption.

Is it suitable for use in a bathroom or in spaces with some humidity?

It is not specifically designed for humid environments. It can be used in large, well-ventilated bathrooms as long as the lamp is kept away from water, but it is not advisable to install it in areas directly exposed to steam or splashing water.
