Overview

The FARO TIDE 600 wall light is a wall lamp designed for the bathroom. It can be mounted either to the side of a mirror or above it, which provides considerable flexibility when planning the installation. The light it emits is warm — 3000K —, which is comfortable for a space where time is spent in front of the mirror every day.

The wall light has a matte black finish, which fits well in both modern interiors and more neutral environments. It takes up no space: with only 39 mm in height and 78 mm in depth, it sits practically flush against the wall. The lamp already includes the LED light source, so there is no need to look for bulbs separately.

FARO is a company with years of experience in home lighting. Their products are aimed at residential use, with attention to finish and integration into different types of interiors.

Installation and specifications

For installation, a junction box in the wall or a cable outlet at the point where the wall light is to be fixed is required. Before starting, the power must be cut at the electrical panel. Fixing is directly to the wall, following the anchors included or suitable for the type of surface. If the wall is made of drywall or tile, it is advisable to use plugs specific to that material. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician.

To clean the aluminum body, a soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Abrasive products or solvents should not be used, as they can damage the matte black finish. The PMMA diffuser is cleaned in the same way. The lamp should not be handled with wet hands or when connected to the power supply.

Design and use

The TIDE 600 is a linear lamp covering 600 mm in length. That elongated format is useful in the bathroom because it distributes light along the mirror more evenly than a centred light point. When installed to the side of the mirror, it illuminates the face laterally, reducing shadows. If placed above, the light falls downward evenly across the entire surface of the mirror.

The body is made of aluminium, which gives it a solid structure without adding unnecessary weight. The diffuser is made of PMMA with an opal finish, which softens the light and prevents the LED from being directly visible. The result is uniform luminosity, without bright spots or areas with less light.

The wall light operates with integrated SMD LED technology. The temperature of 3000K produces a warm-toned light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent bulb. This type of light is particularly suitable for bathrooms, because it allows accurate perception of real colours, which is important when applying makeup or shaving.

With 9W of power, consumption is low. The light source is already included, so installation is straightforward: connect it, fix it to the wall, and it is ready. There is no need to calculate compatibility with bulbs.

The matte black finish gives it a clean, discreet appearance. It works well in bathrooms with light tiles, where the contrast is evident, but also in spaces with darker colours, where it integrates without standing out excessively. This type of finish has gained presence in contemporary-style interiors, and the linear design of the TIDE 600 fits well within that direction.

Although it is conceived for the bathroom, the format and finish of the wall light allow for other uses to be considered. In a hallway, a lamp of this type can be installed above a picture or a decorative mirror, providing focused and functional lighting. In a bedroom, placed above the headboard or next to a dressing mirror, it offers a warm light that is not harsh. In a living room or dining room, it can be used to illuminate specific areas, such as a shelf or a wall panel, without the need for spotlights or ceiling lights.

In narrow hallways, where a pendant lamp has no place, the wall light is a natural solution. The reduced profile of the TIDE 600 — just 78 mm in depth — means it does not encroach on the space and can be installed even in passageways.

In a kitchen or dining room, if there is a mirror or a work area with adequate wall height, this type of lateral lighting can complement the general light well. It does not replace a ceiling lamp, but it adds a layer of light that is closer and more directed.

Regarding combination with other elements, the matte black finish pairs well with hardware of the same tone, dark frames and bathroom accessories in black or grey. It also contrasts simply with white surfaces or light wood, without requiring the overall scheme to follow a very defined style.

Questions and answers

Can the TIDE 600 wall light be installed both above and to the side of the bathroom mirror?

Yes. The design of the wall light allows both positions. Above the mirror, the light falls uniformly downward. To one side, it illuminates laterally. The choice depends on the available space and how the cable outlet is positioned on the wall.

Does the opal PMMA diffuser affect the quality or intensity of the light?

The diffuser softens the light and distributes it evenly, preventing the LED points from being directly visible. There is a slight reduction in intensity compared to a source without a diffuser, but the result is a more pleasant light without glare, which is especially useful in the bathroom.

Is the aluminium body with a matte black finish resistant to the humid environment of the bathroom?

Aluminium is a material that tolerates humid environments well. The matte black finish does not require special care, other than periodic cleaning with a soft cloth. Direct contact with aggressive cleaning products is not recommended in order to preserve the finish in the long term.
