Overview

The MARTINICA wall light by Faro Barcelona is a wall lamp with an adjustable arm that combines a classic design with contemporary finishes. The metal shade can be rotated to direct the light exactly where needed — towards a book, a painting, or a specific corner of the room. This makes it a practical option for both functional and decorative use.

This wall light fits well in the bedroom, next to the bed, as a reading lamp. It also works well in a hallway, living room, or dining room, where you want to add a light source without installing a ceiling lamp. The satin black finish with a touch of gloss gives it a clean, understated look — neither cold nor overly formal.

Faro Barcelona is a Spanish company with decades of experience in lighting. Their products combine quality materials with a design-focused approach without sacrificing functionality.

Installation and specifications

Installing this wall lamp requires an electrical connection at the mounting point. The light is mounted directly onto the wall using anchors suitable for the surface type — brick, concrete, or plasterboard require the correct size wall plug and screw. It is recommended that installation be carried out by an electrician if you have no experience with electrical connections. The lamp is compatible with voltages between 100V and 240V, so there are no restrictions based on the type of electrical network.

The steel surface with black finish can be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Abrasive products or solvents should not be used, as they may damage the satin finish. Before cleaning, make sure the lamp is switched off and cool.

Design and use

The MARTINICA wall light has a compact and solid construction. The body is made of steel with a satin black finish and a touch of gloss that gives it character without being flashy. The metal shade follows the same aesthetic line and can be adjusted as needed — upwards for more diffused ambient light, or downwards to illuminate a specific point.

The arm has a depth of 472 mm, which allows the lamp to project far enough from the wall to be effective as a reading light, without taking up too much space in the room. This makes it suitable even in narrower hallways, where available space is limited.

In the bedroom, a wall light of this type is a practical solution when you do not want to occupy the bedside table with a table lamp. It is fixed to the wall at the desired height and leaves the surface free. The adjustable shade allows you to change the direction of the light without moving anything else — something you appreciate when reading in bed without wanting to disturb the other side.

In the living room, a wall light can complement a main lighting setup that feels too uniform or cold. Placed next to a sofa, a bookshelf, or a reading spot, it provides a closer and more welcoming light. The black finish pairs well with metal frames, dark shelving, or furniture with clean lines.

In the dining room it can serve as a secondary light source, especially if the main lamp hangs over the table and another area of the space needs to be illuminated. In kitchens with distinct work zones, an adjustable wall light also makes sense as task lighting.

For bathrooms, it is worth noting that this wall light has no IP protection rating in the available specifications, so the safest approach is to install it away from the shower or washbasin. In larger bathrooms, it can work as auxiliary or decorative lighting next to the mirror, as long as it is placed in a dry area.

The MARTINICA lamp uses an E27 socket, the most common on the market. This makes it easy to find a compatible LED bulb in any store, and allows you to adjust the colour temperature to suit the desired atmosphere — warmer for rest areas, more neutral for work zones. The maximum supported wattage is 15W, sufficient for a modern LED bulb with good light output.

The design of the wall light can be described as an updated classic. The shade has a recognisable shape, but the materials and finish set it apart from a purely traditional style. It is not a modern lamp in the most minimalist sense, but it is not overly ornate either. It suits interiors that seek a touch of character without clashing with the rest of the space.

Questions and answers

Can the shade of the wall light be moved to change the direction of the light?

Yes. The shade is adjustable, allowing you to direct the light upwards, downwards, or at an angle as needed. It is useful both as a reading lamp and for creating an ambient light source.

What type of bulb does this wall light require?

It uses an E27 socket, which is the most common standard. The bulb is not included. A LED bulb compatible with the maximum wattage of 15W is recommended.

Is the steel body of the wall light resistant to everyday use?

Yes. Steel is a robust material that holds its finish well over time. The glossy satin black finish is resistant to normal wear if cleaned correctly with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
