Overview

MAGRITTE is an orientable wall light from the brand FARO, designed to illuminate paintings, works of art, or any decorative element that deserves attention. It mounts directly on the wall and directs the beam of light where needed, without drawing too much attention to itself. It is a lamp with clean lines and a restrained profile, designed to go unnoticed and let the illuminated object take center stage.

It works well in living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, or hallways — any space where there is something worth highlighting. The matte black finish allows it to integrate easily into modern interiors without generating excessive contrast.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in home lighting. Their products combine solid construction with careful design, intended for everyday domestic use.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, it is recommended to have an accessible power outlet near the mounting point or recessed wiring. As it is a surface-mounted wall fixture, no construction work is required, but it is advisable to locate the cable entry point or junction box before marking the anchor points. It is recommended to verify that the wall can support the weight of the fixture and to use appropriate wall plugs according to the surface material. The direction of the spotlight can be adjusted once installed, so it is worth testing the position before definitively placing the painting or object to be illuminated.

To keep the wall light in good condition, simply clean the surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte black finish or the PMMA diffuser. Do not handle the lamp with wet hands or while it is switched on. If you need to check the connections, always disconnect the power before touching any internal components.

Design and use

The MAGRITTE wall light has an elongated body made of aluminium and steel with a matte black finish. Its shape is discreet — it does not occupy visual space, it does not steal the spotlight. The length of 452 mm allows it to cover medium-sized pieces with a well-distributed beam, while the depth of 224 mm ensures an adequate distance between the wall and the light emission point.

The PMMA diffuser with an opal finish softens the light output and prevents direct glare. The colour temperature of 3000K produces a warm light, close to the tone of a candle or a classic incandescent bulb. It is the type of lighting that makes the colours of a painting appear with greater depth, without altering its original palette.

The integrated 8W LED light source consumes little energy and does not generate excessive heat near the artwork. The driver is included, so no additional components need to be purchased for installation. It is a lamp ready to mount without technical complications.

In the living room, this wall light works well above a centrepiece — a large painting, a framed photograph, or a textured object. In the bedroom, it can be directed towards a decorated headboard or towards an illustration on the side wall. In the dining room, it provides a focused point of light that complements the general lighting without interfering with it. It also fits in hallways with works displayed in series, where several lights of this type create a uniform line of light along the path.

The MAGRITTE lamp integrates well with modern-style interiors, with white walls or neutral tones, where the matte black of the body becomes a subtle graphic element. It also works in spaces with dark wood or industrial finishes, where the wall light becomes part of the composition effortlessly. In rooms with soberly designed furniture, this lamp reinforces visual coherence without adding decorative noise.

Although it is primarily designed to illuminate paintings, nothing prevents it from being used to highlight a shelf, a small sculpture, or any area of the wall that deserves attention. The fact that it is orientable adds flexibility — if the layout of the space changes, the direction of the beam can be adjusted without needing to reposition the fixture.

In the bathroom, it can be used to illuminate a framed mirror or a decorative piece, provided that the electrical installation meets the safety requirements for that environment. In bathrooms with well-defined dry zones, this type of wall light provides a precise point of light that elevates the overall visual result.

Questions and answers

Does the MAGRITTE wall light allow the direction of the beam to be adjusted once installed?

Yes. The spotlight is orientable, which allows the direction of the light to be modified after mounting. This is useful if the position of the painting or illuminated object is changed.

Is the LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 8W, 3000K LED light source is included along with the driver. No additional components need to be purchased to get the lamp up and running.

Is the body of the wall light made of plastic or metal?

The body is made of aluminium and steel with a matte black finish. It contains no structural plastic parts — the metallic materials provide solidity and durability to the whole.
