Overview

The DANUBIO 285 wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for spaces where humidity is part of everyday life. Its IP44 protection rating makes it a straightforward option for the bathroom, with no need to look for alternatives or make exceptions. The lamp mounts on the wall and provides warm, continuous light that effortlessly transforms the bathroom atmosphere.

The wall light has a bronze finish that gives it a defined character. It is not a neutral or generic lamp: it has presence, but without imposing itself. The integrated LED technology operates at 9W, meaning low consumption and a colour temperature of 2700K, close to the light of a traditional bulb. The opal glass diffuser distributes light without creating bright spots or shadowed areas.

FARO is a brand with a long track record in home lighting. Its products combine functional design with quality materials, intended for domestic installations that must last and maintain their appearance over time.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, you need a power outlet or wiring recessed into the wall, as the lamp mounts directly to the surface. Before starting assembly, always cut the power at the electrical panel. Check that the wall can support the weight of the wall light, which in this case is around 1.33 kg. If the wall is made of plasterboard or hollow material, use anchors specific to that type of support. Given the usual location in the bathroom, make sure to respect the safety zones established for luminaires in spaces with water, in accordance with current electrical regulations. If you have doubts about the installation, consult an electrician.

To keep the wall light in good condition, clean the aluminium body with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or those containing solvents, which can damage the bronze finish. The opal glass diffuser is cleaned in the same way: a soft cloth is sufficient to remove dust or splashes. Do not handle the lamp with wet hands or while it is switched on. As it is an LED luminaire with an included light source, there is no need to change bulbs frequently.

Design and use

The DANUBIO 285 is a wall light with an elongated and well-proportioned shape. Its 285 mm length gives it presence without taking up too much depth, as it protrudes only 80 mm from the wall. This makes it particularly useful in bathrooms where available space is tight and every centimetre counts.

The body is made of aluminium, a material that combines lightness with durability. The bronze finish gives it a warm tone and an elegant appearance that pairs well with white sanitaryware, gold or champagne-coloured taps, and wooden surfaces in medium or warm tones. It is not a strictly industrial or Nordic-style wall light, but it has a design that coexists well with both trends without forcing the overall look.

The opal glass diffuser is one of the elements that most influences the final result. The glass filters the LED light and distributes it evenly, preventing the light source from being directly visible. In a bathroom, this makes a difference: the light reaches the entire room without creating uncomfortable reflections in the mirror or dark areas in the corners. The 2700K temperature produces warm light, similar to that of an incandescent bulb, which is pleasant for daily grooming and does not distort colours.

The IP44 rating ensures that the lamp is protected against water splashes from any direction. This allows it to be placed near the washbasin or on walls close to the shower, always within the zones permitted by electrical regulations. Not all wall lights have this protection, so it is a relevant detail if the intended location is the bathroom.

Although primarily designed for bathrooms, this wall light also works well in hallways where warm, continuous lighting is desired. In long hallways, several wall lights of this model distributed at the same height create a uniform and visually orderly effect. It can also be used as supplementary light in a bedroom, in a reading area beside the bed, or as an additional light source in a living room where the central lighting does not reach a corner well.

In a kitchen, the wall light can function as ambient lighting in the entrance area or on a side wall where there are no cabinets. It is not designed for direct task lighting above worktops, but as a decorative complement in a classic-style kitchen or one with warm-toned finishes, it fits without any issues.

The weight of 1.33 kg is moderate for a lamp of these dimensions. Installation does not require special reinforcement on conventional masonry walls. The LED light source is included, so the wall light is ready to connect from the very first moment, with no need to purchase anything additional.
