Overview

The FARO COSTAS lamp is a surface-mounted luminaire designed for wall installation. Its rattan shade and exposed bulb create a clean visual effect, where the light also becomes part of the decoration. The wall light has a diameter of 60 cm and is only 7 cm tall, making it particularly suitable for spaces where visual presence is desired without the lamp taking up too much room.

This wall light works well in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, or dining rooms. It also fits in hallways and bathrooms where warmth is desired without overwhelming the atmosphere. The combination of rattan, matte black finish, and Mediterranean style makes it versatile: it can integrate into both modern interiors and spaces with a more classic or rustic character.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long track record in interior and exterior lighting. Its products are developed with attention to design and functionality, and the COSTAS collection is an example of that approach: simple in form, but designed to last and to adapt to different contexts.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light, a junction box or wall anchor suitable for the type of surface is required. The wiring must be concealed before fixing the base. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially in bathrooms or damp areas. Before starting, always disconnect the power from the electrical panel. The lamp does not include a bulb, so you will need to purchase one separately; FARO recommends the decorative bulb Ref. 17072E, compatible with E27 socket.

To clean the rattan shade, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemical products that may damage the fibers. The matte black aluminum structure can be cleaned with a soft, non-abrasive cloth. Do not expose the wall light to direct moisture or install it in areas where it may receive water splashes, unless the space has sufficient ventilation.

Design and use

The COSTAS collection was designed by Alex&Manel Lluscà with a clear idea: to create a lamp that works as a decorative piece as well as a light source. The woven rattan shade allows light to pass through in a diffused way, projecting soft shadows on the wall and surrounding area. The warmth it generates in a space is difficult to achieve with synthetic materials, and this is one of the reasons why rattan remains a material present in contemporary design.

The wall light has a diameter of 60 cm, giving it presence in the room without being excessive. It is large enough to illuminate a specific area — such as the headboard in a bedroom or the side of a dining room — while maintaining a balanced scale with the rest of the furniture. Its height of just 72 mm keeps it close to the wall, without interfering with the surrounding space.

The bulb is left exposed, which is not an oversight but a design decision. When combined with a decorative filament bulb, the effect is particularly appealing: the warm light of the filament contrasts with the texture of the rattan and the matte black finish of the aluminum structure. This interplay between natural materials and industrial finishes is what gives the lamp its character.

In the living room, a pair of COSTAS wall lights placed at the same height can replace a floor lamp or complement the central lighting. In the bedroom, installed on either side of the headboard, they free the bedside tables from additional lamps and create a calmer atmosphere. In a kitchen or dining room, they can be combined with other ceiling lamps to create a more complete lighting scene. They also work well in long hallways, where several wall lights in sequence generate continuous and orderly illumination.

For bathrooms with good ventilation, the wall light can be used in areas away from direct water, always following the installation guidelines. The warm light it projects is more pleasant in these spaces than the cold lighting typical of bathroom environments.

COSTAS is also designed for the contract sector: restaurants, hotels, coworking spaces, or reception areas where modern lighting with personality is sought. In these settings, the rattan shade adds warmth and a Mediterranean character that sets the space apart. Several wall lights installed at different heights or on facing walls allow visual compositions to be created without the need for complex electrical installations.

The matte black finish of the aluminum structure is neutral and durable. It does not accumulate fingerprints easily and does not visually compete with the rattan shade, which is the focal element of the lamp. This combination of materials — natural fiber and metal — results in a luminaire that adapts to a variety of styles without losing its own coherence.

Questions and answers

Can the COSTAS wall light be installed on the wall without an electrician?

Installation requires connection to the wall's electrical wiring, so it is recommended that it be carried out by a professional. In environments such as the bathroom, a qualified installer is required.

What type of E27 bulb is most suitable for this wall light?

FARO recommends the decorative bulb Ref. 17072E. Since the bulb is exposed in the COSTAS design, an LED filament bulb provides a more attractive visual result that is consistent with the lamp's style.

Could the 60 cm diameter of the wall light look disproportionate in small spaces?

It depends on the height and width of the available wall. In small rooms, a single centered wall light can work well as a focal point. In compact spaces with low ceilings, it is advisable to assess the actual dimensions before installing.

After-sales support

If you receive the product with a visible defect or manufacturing fault, you have 30 days from receipt to report it. The defect does not need to be serious: any issue affecting the functioning or condition of the wall light falls within this period.

To report an incident, write to us with a description of the problem and, if possible, a photo of the product's condition. Each case is reviewed individually to find the most appropriate solution, whether that is a replacement, part exchange, or alternative arrangement.
