Overview

The Windsor table lamp by FARO is a luminaire designed to create warm, balanced atmospheres. Its large grey fabric shades diffuse light softly, without producing direct glare or uncomfortable shadow zones. It is a natural choice for spaces where ambient lighting matters more than functional lighting: restaurants, hotels, reception lounges, or any corner of the home where you want to lower the visual intensity and gain in comfort.

At home, it fits well on a bedside table, on a desk in a understated-style bedroom, or as a secondary light source in the living room. It does not take up too much space and its matte black finish gives it presence without being eye-catching.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior lighting. Its products combine quality materials with a clear focus on design applied to real spaces.

Installation and specifications

Installing this table lamp requires no work on the ceiling or wall. Simply place it on a flat, stable surface — a side table, a console, a desk or a sufficiently wide shelf. Connect the cable to a standard power outlet. Before changing the bulb, make sure to disconnect the lamp from the electrical supply. The E27 LED bulb is not included; choose one of up to 15 W so as not to exceed the maximum power indicated.

The grey fabric shade can be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth, without abrasive products or solvents. The steel body in matte black finish accepts a soft cloth. Avoid wetting the areas near the electrical connection. Do not leave the lamp on unsupervised for long periods if the installed bulb generates heat.

Design and use

The Windsor is a table lamp with a clear visual presence. The large shades are its most recognisable feature: they are made from grey fabric, a material that filters light evenly and creates the kind of diffuse illumination that makes a space look more inviting without feeling dark. The body, in steel with a matte black finish, provides stability and a solid visual counterpoint to the softness of the diffuser.

On a bedside table, this lamp performs its function well without interfering with rest. The light it casts is just right for reading or simply being, without the harshness of a direct source. In a living room, placed on a side table or a console, it can act as a secondary focal point that complements a more intense main lighting. For those looking for a desk lamp with a calmer character than office-style flex lamps, the Windsor offers that alternative: less technical, more atmospheric.

In professional spaces such as restaurants or hotel reception areas, the scale of the shades makes even more sense. A table with this lamp on top conveys a sense of attention to detail, of considered lighting. The grey tone of the diffuser and the black of the body work well with contemporary interiors, but also with more classic settings where black is a recurring element in the furniture or joinery.

As for combining with other elements, the matte black of the body is a versatile finish. It works alongside dark or natural wood, lacquered surfaces, black or white marble, and also with neutral textiles. The grey of the diffuser acts as a bridge between cool and warm tones, making it easy to integrate into mixed compositions.

Compatibility with E27 LED bulbs makes it easy to adapt to different colour temperatures. A warm-tone LED intensifies the ambient effect; a neutral-tone one provides a little more clarity without losing softness. That choice is left to the user, which is a real advantage.

For those looking for a supporting dining room lamp — not as a primary source, but as a complement to a central pendant — the Windsor can fulfil that role on a sideboard or a nearby side table. In a bedroom with a bedside table on each side, two units of this lamp create a symmetrical composition without needing to look for models specifically designed as a pair.

It is not a golden lamp, nor ceramic, nor of a marked Nordic style. It is a restrained piece, with honest materials and a finish that does not seek to draw attention, but to integrate well wherever it is placed. That, in many cases, is exactly what is needed.

Questions and answers

Does the grey fabric shade significantly affect the amount of light the table lamp emits?

The fabric diffuses the light and reduces its direct intensity, but does not block it. The result is soft, even illumination, suitable for ambient settings rather than tasks requiring a lot of clarity. If you need more brightness, you can use a higher lumen E27 LED bulb within the 15 W limit.

Is the steel body in matte black resistant to scratches from everyday use?

The matte black finish is relatively resistant, but like any dark surface it may show fingerprints or marks over time. It is recommended to clean it with a soft, dry cloth, without rubbing with abrasive materials, to keep it in good condition.

Is this table lamp compatible with E27 bulbs from any brand?

Yes, the E27 socket is a universal standard. You can use any LED bulb in that format, as long as it does not exceed the maximum power of 15 W indicated by the manufacturer.
