Overview

The GABO reader wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for those looking for functional light exactly where they need it. It works well next to the bed, in a hallway with little natural light, or in any interior corner where a directed light source is needed without taking up space. Its compact format allows it to be installed on small surfaces without being bulky.

The lamp includes an integrated USB port, making it a practical solution for the bedroom or any area where devices are frequently charged. There is no need to look for an additional socket: the connection is within reach, right next to the light itself. The matte white finish gives it a clean, modern look that does not draw too much attention but fits well in contemporary interiors.

FARO is a Spanish brand with experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Its products combine functional design with quality materials, built to last and to integrate effortlessly into the home.

Installation and specifications

For installation, make sure the wall is free of electrical cables in the area where you are going to fix the wall light. The model supports surface or recessed installation, depending on preference or space conditions. In both cases, it is advisable to cut the power before starting assembly and to verify that the existing wiring is compatible with the indicated voltage. If you have no experience with electrical installations, the safest option is to hire an electrician.

To keep the lamp in good condition, simply clean the surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte white finish. The LED light source is included and does not require regular replacement, as it is integrated into the design of the wall light.

Design and use

The GABO wall light has an elongated and discreet shape. The reader is framed by a structure with a central cradle-shaped frieze that holds it and guides it visually. This design detail is not purely aesthetic: it serves the function of protecting and centring the light beam towards where it is needed. The lamp measures 185 mm in height, 80 mm in length and 69 mm in depth, making it a viable option for walls where space is limited.

The body materials, steel and aluminium, provide solidity without adding unnecessary weight. The unit weighs just over half a kilogram, light enough to be fixed securely to a wall without the need for complicated anchors. The matte white finish does not reflect light, which contributes to a uniform and calm appearance within the interior as a whole.

In the bedroom, this wall light replaces the bedside lamp with an advantage: it takes up no surface area, keeps the area clear and allows reading or working without disturbing others. The integrated USB port adds real convenience in that context, especially in rooms where sockets are scarce or in inconvenient positions. The colour temperature of 2700K offers a warm light, similar to incandescent light, which is pleasant for quiet activities before sleep.

In the bathroom, the wall light can be installed next to the mirror as a localised light source, provided the location is appropriate in relation to humid zones. Its narrow profile and neutral finish integrate well in modern-style bathrooms, both with light and dark walls.

In a hallway, this type of surface-mounted or recessed wall light provides illumination without reducing visual space. Installed at mid-height or near passageways, it directs light where it is needed without creating annoying shadows. On a staircase, it fulfils a similar function: it illuminates the steps in a localised manner without the need to install a large ceiling lamp. Recessed installation is especially practical on staircases with plasterboard or renovated walls, where wiring can be concealed easily.

The GABO wall light also fits in spaces such as the entrance hall or foyer, where a modern, punctual lighting solution is sought that is neither too imposing nor too sparse. Its restrained design allows it to be combined with other ceiling or ambient lamps without competing visually. In a home office, installed next to the desk or on the side wall, it provides a direct task light source with no visible cables.

The possibility of choosing between surface and recessed installation provides flexibility to adapt it to different types of renovation. On a masonry wall, it can be surface-mounted without looking forced. In a more carefully finished renovation, the recessed option integrates the lamp into the wall cleanly, leaving only the frame and the reader visible.
