Overview

NIVA is a fixed pinhole recessed light from FARO, designed for ceiling installations in indoor spaces. Its compact profile and white finish make it compatible with a wide variety of domestic environments: from the bedroom to the dining room, including hallways, kitchens, or living areas. This lamp works with a GU10 LED bulb, which allows you to take advantage of the efficiency of modern lighting without sacrificing a clean and understated design.

The defining feature of this model is its deep profile design. That depth is not merely aesthetic: it reduces direct glare and improves visual comfort in the space. When choosing a lamp for everyday ceiling use, that detail makes a real difference in the comfort of the room.

FARO is a company with decades of experience in lighting, with catalogues oriented both to home use and to larger-scale projects. Their products combine functionality and aesthetic criteria, and are present in markets throughout Europe.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this lamp in the ceiling, it is important to verify that the recessed opening has the appropriate dimensions to accommodate the body of the fixture. As a recessed luminaire, installation requires access to the space above the false ceiling to connect the wiring. It is recommended to use a qualified electrician, especially when working with existing installations. The working voltage is universal (100 V–240 V), making it compatible with the standard electrical grid in Spain and most of Europe. The GU10 LED bulb is not included, so it must be purchased separately before commissioning.

To keep the lamp in good condition, simply clean the outer surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Abrasive products or solvents that could damage the white aluminium finish should not be used. As it has IP20 protection, this luminaire is not suitable for areas with exposure to water or high humidity, such as showers or outdoor spaces. It should also not be installed in spaces classified as outdoor without additional protection.

Design and use

NIVA is a recessed ceiling lamp with a design intended to go unnoticed in the most effective way: it integrates into the ceiling, occupies minimal space, and directs light where it is needed without generating unwanted reflections. The body, made of aluminium with a white finish, has very compact dimensions — 98 mm in diameter and just 37 mm in height — making it a practical option for ceilings with little space between the structure and the false ceiling.

The pinhole concept refers to a reduced aperture at the front of the spotlight, which limits the viewing angle of the bulb and, with it, direct exposure to the light source. The result is more concentrated lighting and a softer visual perception for those in the room. In spaces with prolonged use, such as a dining room, a bedroom, or a kitchen, that kind of lighting comfort has real practical value.

As a fixed model — non-adjustable — it is particularly suitable for installations where the direction of light is defined from the outset. It can be used as general lighting in combination with other light points, or as part of a line of recessed lights distributed uniformly across the ceiling. This series arrangement is common in open-plan kitchens, long hallways, or dining areas where there is no central lighting point.

The white finish facilitates integration with plaster ceilings, stretched ceilings, or plasterboard false ceilings painted in light colours. In a Nordic or minimalist style bedroom, this type of lamp maintains the clean lines that characterise that decorative style. In a modern kitchen with white or light grey furniture, recessed lights of this format become part of the ceiling itself, without adding visual noise.

The model works with a GU10 LED bulb, a very common format in indoor home lighting. This means the user can choose the colour temperature and luminous flux level according to the atmosphere they want to create: warm light for bedrooms and dining rooms, neutral or cool light for kitchens and work areas. The maximum accepted power is 10 W, sufficient for this type of directed spotlight.

Regarding the finish, white aluminium is not simply an aesthetic choice. It is a lightweight material — the net weight of the unit is 0.15 kg — and durable, maintaining its appearance without warping or corroding over time. Modern recessed lights in this material tend to retain their finish well even in long-duration installations.

For those renovating a home and looking for a fitting that requires no special maintenance or adds complexity to the project, NIVA offers a straightforward solution. There are no visible cables, no decorative elements that can deteriorate, and replacing the bulb is simple when the time comes.

Questions and answers

Is it possible to adjust the spotlight of the NIVA lamp to direct the light towards a specific point?

No. NIVA is a fixed model, which means the direction of the light is perpendicular to the ceiling and cannot be adjusted. If you need an adjustable recessed light, you will need to look for another model in the range.

What type of bulb do I need to buy for this lamp and where can I find it?

This lamp uses a GU10 LED base bulb with a maximum power of 10 W. This format is very common and is available at hardware stores, large retail outlets, and lighting shops. The bulb is not included in the box and must be purchased separately.

Can this lamp be installed in a bathroom or in an outdoor area?

No. NIVA has IP20 protection, designed for dry indoor spaces. It is not suitable for areas with high humidity, water splashes, or for outdoor use. For those environments, it is necessary to choose a model with a higher IP protection rating.
