Overview

LOX is a ceiling recessed spotlight from FARO Barcelona, designed for those looking for a clean lighting solution with no distracting elements. Its round aluminum body with a black finish fits well in spaces where modern design sets the tone: shops, showrooms, corridors, work areas, or any environment where light needs to be present without excessive prominence.

The lamp comes with an integrated COB LED light source, which means there is no need to look for a separate bulb. From the very first moment it provides a warm light of 3000K, which is easy on the eyes and gives a sense of controlled ambiance. The body is compact — just 85 mm in diameter — so it fits into standard recesses without any complicated construction work.

FARO Barcelona has been designing luminaires for the European market for decades. The brand combines modern design criteria with everyday materials, and the result is usually products that last without drawing unnecessary attention.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the lamp, check that the recess in the ceiling has the right dimensions to accommodate the 85 mm diameter body. Cut the power supply from the panel before any handling. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, it is best to have an electrician do it. The recessed spotlight is fixed directly to the ceiling with no visible additional anchors, which keeps the finish clean.

To clean the surface, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not apply abrasive products or solvents to the aluminum body or the PC cover. Avoid touching the LED module directly. The lamp is designed for indoor use, so do not install it in areas exposed to direct moisture or outdoors.

Design and use

The LOX recessed spotlight from FARO works well when the goal is to have functional light without the lamp drawing attention to itself. The black aluminum body integrates into the ceiling and practically disappears. What remains is the beam of light, which is what matters.

The modern design of this recessed fitting does not rely on complicated shapes or eye-catching finishes. It is round, compact, and straightforward. That makes it compatible with many types of ceiling: smooth plaster, drywall, wood panels, or more contemporary materials. In minimalist, industrial, or Scandinavian-style home spaces it fits in effortlessly.

The included COB LED source emits light at 3000K, a temperature that many associate with warm and welcoming environments. It is not the cold white light of an office, nor the intense yellow light of a candle. It is something in between that works well both in transitional areas and in corners where one spends more time. In a bedroom, for example, that tone helps the space not feel too clinical. In a kitchen or dining room, it provides enough warmth without distorting the colors of food or the table.

The fact that it is a recessed spotlight makes it a practical option when there is no space for a pendant lamp or when the ceiling is low. It takes up no visual volume. It does not interfere with movement within the room. In small bedrooms or narrow corridors, that makes the difference between a space that feels comfortable and one that seems crowded.

Although LOX is designed especially for commercial environments, it also works well in residential spaces where a clean and modern result is desired. A kitchen bar illuminated with several of these recessed spotlights in a row offers an effective and orderly light distribution. In a dining room, placed strategically above the table, they allow attention to be focused without installing additional pendant lights. They are also useful in built-in wardrobes or work areas where direct light is needed without bulky fixtures.

The aluminum body withstands continuous use well. It is a material that does not deform under the residual heat of the LED and does not visibly accumulate dirt easily. The matte black finish, in particular, conceals fingerprints and dust better than white or chrome finishes. That reduces how often it needs to be cleaned.

As for modern recessed lighting, one of the advantages of this format is its discretion. There are no visible cables, no shades to collect dust, no elements that clash with the rest of the furniture. Recessed fittings like LOX allow for more strategic lighting to be built: several points of light instead of a single central source, which gives more control over how the space looks at different times of day.

The weight of the unit is practically negligible — barely 20 grams — so it places no load on the ceiling structure. That makes it viable even in drywall ceilings without special reinforcement.

If what you are looking for are modern recessed fittings that do not compete with the rest of the interior design, LOX is an option worth considering. It works alone or in combination with other lights of the same model to create lines or groups of distributed lighting.

Questions and answers

Is the COB LED module integrated into the lamp or does it need to be purchased separately?

The COB LED module is already included in the lamp. You do not need to acquire any additional light source or make any adaptation before installing it.

What diameter hole do I need to make in the ceiling to install this recessed spotlight?

The total diameter of the recessed spotlight is 85 mm. You must prepare a recess that matches that measurement so that the lamp fits properly and the finish is clean.

Can this model be installed in an outdoor area or in a bathroom?

No. This recessed spotlight is designed for indoor use and is not suitable for areas with direct exposure to moisture or for outdoor use. In a bathroom it would only be viable if installed in an area away from the shower or bathtub and with the appropriate IP protection, which in this case is not specified.
