Overview

This round recessed light from the FARO brand is designed for ceiling installations where precise lighting and a clean finish are sought. It works well in commercial projects, hospitality spaces, and also in domestic environments where modern design and durability matter. The matt black die-cast aluminium body gives it a solid and discreet look that does not compete with the rest of the interior but complements it.

The lamp is mounted directly into the ceiling, with no protruding elements and no visible structure. The result is clean lighting, integrated into the ceiling, that does not distract and takes up no visual space. It is a particularly useful solution when you want light to be present without the lamp being the centre of attention.

FARO is a company with a long track record in the lighting sector, headquartered in Spain. It designs luminaires for residential and contract use, with attention to constructive details and coherence between form and function.

Installation and specifications

To install this lamp, a circular cut with a diameter of 90 mm must be made in the false ceiling. Before starting, make sure the electrical circuit is completely disconnected. The luminaire is secured using the spring mechanism included in the body itself. Verify that the thickness of the panel where it will be fitted is compatible with the depth of the luminaire. The GU10 LED light source is not included and must be purchased separately before commissioning. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a person with basic knowledge of electrical work.

For maintenance of the body, simply wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matt black aluminium finish. The transparent glass diffuser can be cleaned in the same way, taking care not to scratch the surface. Since it features IP65 protection, the lamp resists dust and water splashes, which simplifies maintenance in more demanding environments.

Design and use

The FARO round recessed light has a diameter of 90 mm and a height of 133 mm, dimensions that make it compatible with standard plasterboard ceilings or false ceilings of any type. The die-cast aluminium body is robust without being heavy, weighing just 350 grams net. The matt black finish does not reflect ambient light and maintains a clean appearance even over time.

The transparent glass diffuser directs the light beam without dispersing it excessively, making this lamp a good option for accent lighting or for highlighting specific areas. In a kitchen, it can be used to illuminate the worktop or work area without exposing the light source to view. In a dining room, several units placed in the ceiling create an even distribution that avoids annoying shadows on the table.

The modern design of the fixture also makes it suitable for bedrooms where a calm atmosphere is desired but with enough light for reading or moving around comfortably. In small bedrooms, ceiling integration allows visual space to be gained without sacrificing effective lighting. The minimalist style of the black body fits well with interiors featuring straight lines, matt surfaces, and neutral colour palettes.

Beyond domestic use, this fixture has been conceived for commercial and hospitality projects, where durability and reduced maintenance are priorities. At a bar counter, for example, the IP65 protection ensures that splashes do not affect the lamp's operation. It is also suitable for changing rooms, humid passageways, or any space where the luminaire may be exposed to somewhat harsher conditions than those of a conventional living room.

The use of GU10 LED as a light source allows different colour temperatures to be chosen according to the desired atmosphere. A warm white bulb gives a cosier result; a neutral or cool white is better for work areas. This flexibility makes modern lights of this type versatile and easy to adapt to different uses. Recessed fixtures like this combine well with other ceiling luminaires, such as wall lights or LED strips, creating layers of lighting within the same space.

Compatibility with voltages between 100V and 240V makes it usable in different countries without adaptation. The modern exterior design of the product, although intended for indoor use, reflects the same attention to detail that FARO applies to its outdoor ranges. The overall style, sober and well resolved, fits into design projects where modern black finishes are gaining prominence. Whether at a hospitality counter, in a home office, or in a bedroom, this recessed light delivers without drawing unnecessary attention.

Questions and answers

Is the GU10 lamp included in the package?

No, the GU10 LED light source is not included. It must be purchased separately before installing the luminaire. The recessed light accepts a GU10 bulb of up to 8W.

What does IP65 mean and in which spaces does it allow this luminaire to be installed?

The IP65 rating indicates that the luminaire is protected against dust and against water splashes from any direction. This allows it to be installed in kitchens, areas with steam, changing rooms, or hospitality bar counters where other luminaires without protection would not be suitable.

What cut diameter do I need to make in the ceiling to install this recessed light?

The total diameter of the luminaire is 90 mm, so the cut in the false ceiling must be made to that same measurement. Also check the available depth in the ceiling cavity before proceeding.
