Overview

The WINDSOR lamp by FARO is a suspension luminaire designed for those looking for warm ambient light and a clean design that does not compete with the rest of the interior. It hangs from the ceiling and distributes light in a diffuse way, without bright spots or sharp shadows. It is a good option for a dining room where meals are enjoyed at a relaxed pace, for a living room with soft lighting, or for any room where a relaxed atmosphere is preferred over functional lighting.

The oval shade is the main element of this lamp. Its generous size covers the visual space well and creates a clear presence without being excessive. The matte black finish of the body gives it a contemporary and discreet appearance at the same time.

FARO Barcelona is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Its collections combine quality materials with an aesthetic that integrates well into modern domestic environments.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp on the ceiling, a recessed or surface-mounted junction box with the appropriate dimensions for the included fixing system is required. As it is a suspension luminaire, it is advisable to check the free height of the space before installation, as the oval shade takes up a considerable volume. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Before connecting, make sure the electricity supply is switched off at the distribution board. The lamp supports voltages between 100 V and 240 V, making it compatible with the standard electrical grid. Please note that the E27 LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately.

To clean the steel body with a matte black finish, a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient. The use of abrasive products or solvents is not recommended, as they may damage the finish. The papyrus shade is sensitive to moisture, so it is not suitable for installation in the bathroom or in areas with frequent steam. To remove dust from the shade, use a soft cloth or a fibre duster. Do not wet the shade directly.

Design and use

The WINDSOR collection by FARO offers luminaires with large shades that define the space without the need for other decorative elements. This pendant version combines a matte black steel body with an oval papyrus shade in a natural tone. The result is a lamp that has visual weight without becoming heavy on the eye.

Papyrus as a material for the shade provides an organic texture reminiscent of materials such as wood or wicker, yet with its own lightness. When the bulb is on, the shade filters the light and distributes it softly to the sides and downward, creating a uniform halo. This luminous behaviour makes the lamp particularly suitable for areas where atmosphere is sought rather than direct visibility.

In a dining room, a pendant lamp like this is usually placed above the table to mark the centre of the space. The scale of the oval shade allows it to work well over standard-sized tables without looking small. The light it projects onto the table is soft, which encourages a pleasant atmosphere during meals.

In a living room, installed in the centre of the ceiling or above a specific resting area, it acts as ambient light that complements other sources. It is not designed to illuminate the entire room, but to create a zone of warm light that invites you to remain in that part of the space.

In a kitchen with high ceilings, it can be used over an island or side table as a decorative pendant lamp, as long as the area is not directly exposed to steam. For the bedroom, it works well in spaces with standard ceiling heights, where its oval proportion creates a balanced presence without overloading the atmosphere.

The matte black of the body pairs well with dark window frames, lacquered furniture, metal accessories, or any element that follows a cool or neutral palette. The natural tone of the papyrus, for its part, brings the lamp closer to interiors with light wood elements, beige textiles, or off-white surfaces. This combination makes the piece versatile within modern, Nordic, or even certain rustic-inspired styles.

Since the light source is E27 LED, it is possible to choose the colour temperature of the bulb according to the intended use. A warm light reinforces the ambient character of the lamp. The E27 socket is the most common standard on the market and makes it easy to find options. The maximum admitted power is 45 W, sufficient for the type of lighting for which this ceiling luminaire is conceived.

Questions and answers

Is the oval shade suitable for installing the lamp in the bathroom or in areas with humidity?

No. The papyrus shade is sensitive to moisture. This lamp is intended for dry interiors such as the living room, dining room, or bedroom. Its use in the bathroom or in areas regularly exposed to steam is not recommended.

Does the body of the pendant lamp hold up well to everyday use without losing its finish?

The body is made of steel with a matte black finish, a material resistant to normal use. By avoiding abrasive products when cleaning, the finish remains in good condition for a long time without the need for additional treatments.

What type of LED bulb is compatible with this ceiling lamp?

The lamp accepts any LED bulb with an E27 socket and a maximum power of 45 W. The bulb is not included. The E27 socket is the most common type, so there is a wide variety of lights available to choose from according to the desired colour temperature.
