Overview

SAVOY is a pendant lamp designed for interior spaces where lighting is part of the atmosphere, not just a functional element. Its combination of a black structure and a green textile shade makes it a piece that transforms the ceiling into a natural focal point in the living room, dining room, or any room where a balance between character and warmth is sought.

The design is the work of Isaac Piñeiro for the brand FARO, a company with a long track record in lighting that combines aesthetic sensibility with quality materials. The lamp features a ring at the top that reflects light upward, creating a visual effect on the ceiling that adds depth to the space without the need for additional accessories.

FARO has spent years developing luminaires for residential and interior design use with a clear focus: ensuring each piece fits the environment for which it was conceived.

Installation and specifications

For installation, an existing ceiling light point is required. The pendant lamp is fixed directly to the ceiling using the included suspension system. It is recommended that installation be carried out by an electrician or someone with experience in electrical assembly, particularly to ensure a safe connection to the room's circuit. Before beginning any work, disconnect the power supply from the main panel. Verify that the ceiling support is adequate for a weight of 1.67 kg.

The lamp's textile shade can be cleaned with a dry or slightly damp cloth, without abrasive products or solvents. The black steel structure is kept in good condition with a soft cloth to remove accumulated dust. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct moisture. Do not handle the bulb immediately after use, as it may be hot.

Design and use

SAVOY is a pendant lamp that works through subtlety. It does not impose on the space, it articulates it. The green fabric shade, in a tone reminiscent of muted natural greens, adds visual texture without overwhelming. Against the black steel structure, the contrast is clean and direct. It is the kind of combination that works well in interiors where different materials coexist without a rigid style to unify them.

The oval shape of the shade is one of the features that makes this luminaire distinctive. It is neither a perfect sphere nor a flat shade: the oval silhouette gives the piece volume and makes it visible from different angles in the living room or dining room. That oval proportion also influences how light is distributed in the surrounding space.

The metal ring at the top is not merely a structural element. When the lamp is switched on, part of the light travels up toward that ring and is reflected onto the ceiling, creating a halo that visually expands the space and softens the transition between the light source and the surroundings. In a kitchen with a low ceiling, this effect can make the atmosphere feel less enclosed. In a bedroom, it adds a warmth that direct lighting does not always achieve.

The structure is made of steel, which gives it solidity without adding unnecessary weight. At 1.67 kg, it is a pendant lamp that is manageable to install and suitable for standard ceilings without additional reinforcement. Its dimensions, 420 mm long by 311 mm high, place it in a medium size that works well both over a dining table and as the main light source in a moderately sized room.

Compatibility with an E27 LED bulb allows the color temperature to be chosen according to use. A warmer light in the bedroom, a neutral tone in the kitchen, a cooler light if used in workspaces. The lamp does not include a bulb, which gives the freedom to select the one that best suits the desired atmosphere. The maximum admitted power is 15 W, sufficient to cover a room without the need for a supplementary light source in most cases.

SAVOY fits well in Nordic-style interiors, in spaces that combine natural wood with matte black, and also in environments with freer design touches where the green of the shade can engage with plants, textiles, or surfaces in earthy tones. In the living room, it works as a central piece or as a secondary light that complements other lights. In the dining room, hung over the table, it creates the kind of concentrated illumination that makes sitting down to eat something more than a routine. In the bathroom or hallway, it can be used as a character accent if the space allows and the installation is prepared for it.

Isaac Piñeiro's signature is evident in the details: the choice of fabric as the main material for the shade instead of glass, the oval silhouette that avoids the rigidity of more common geometric forms, and the integration of the ring as an element that serves two functions at once. It is not an ornate piece, but it is not anonymous either.

Questions and answers

Is the upper ring of the SAVOY lamp integrated into the structure or is it a separate accessory?

The ring is part of the lamp's structure and is not a separate component. It is integrated into the luminaire's design and serves both an aesthetic and a lighting function, as it reflects part of the light toward the ceiling when the lamp is switched on.

Is the green textile shade resistant to the heat generated by the E27 bulb?

The lamp is designed to work with E27 LED bulbs of up to 15 W, which generate far less heat than traditional incandescent bulbs. Using a bulb within the indicated limit ensures that the textile shade operates safely under normal conditions of use.

Do the 420 mm dimensions include the suspension cable or only the lamp body?

The stated dimensions correspond to the luminaire body. The length of 420 mm and the height of 311 mm refer to the shade and the structure, not including the suspension cable, whose length may vary depending on the installation.
