Overview

The SAMBA lamp by FARO is a suspension luminaire designed for interiors where style matters as much as light. This version features a multiple canopy with 5 lights, making it a solid option for large spaces that need distributed and balanced lighting. The green fabric shade on a matte black steel structure creates a clear visual presence without being overwhelming.

It works well in living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms. It also adapts seamlessly to hospitality projects: restaurants, hotels, or common areas where a carefully considered and coherent atmosphere is sought.

FARO is a Spanish brand with years of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Its collections combine design criteria with selected materials, catering to both domestic use and more demanding projects.

Installation and specifications

This pendant lamp is mounted directly to the ceiling using the included canopy. Before installing it, make sure the ceiling anchor point is secure and prepared to support the weight of the assembly. It is recommended to have an electrician handle the connection, especially in installations with older wiring. The cable has a generous length of 5000 mm, allowing the hanging height to be adjusted to suit the space. The E27 LED bulb is not included and must be purchased separately. Compatible with voltage between 100V and 240V.

For maintenance, clean the steel structure with a dry or slightly damp cloth. The papyrus shade should not be wetted or cleaned with abrasive products. Avoid installing this pendant lamp in areas with high humidity, such as bathrooms or kitchens with direct steam. Always disconnect the power before handling the luminaire or changing the bulb.

Design and use

The SAMBA collection was born from the Faro Lab design studio with a clear intention: to offer a pendant lamp that combines natural materials and metal structure without the result feeling forced. In this 5-light version, that balance is maintained with a composition that occupies the visual space well without overwhelming it.

The structure is made of steel with a matte black finish. This finish does not reflect light aggressively and ages well over time. Matte black also makes it easy to combine with other interior design elements: wooden tables, iron shelving, or surfaces in neutral tones. The papyrus shade in white diffuses light gently, without creating harsh contrasts between lit areas and shadows.

The most striking detail of this lamp is the green tone of its outer fabric. It is not an overly saturated or decorative green: it adds warmth and a touch of color that can act as an accent in more sober interiors, or integrate naturally into environments with green or earthy tones. It works well alongside plants, textiles in natural colors, or in spaces where an organic feel is desired without resorting to materials like wicker or rattan.

In a medium or large living room, a lamp with 5 light points allows you to do without auxiliary lighting at many times of the day. Over a dining table, the multiple distribution covers the surface better than a single central source. In a room with high ceilings, the long cable of 5000 mm gives room to hang the lamp at the exact height you need.

This pendant lamp also fits into hospitality projects where a defined atmosphere is sought without resorting to generic solutions. In restaurants with a modern or Nordic aesthetic, in boutique hotel reception areas, or in coworking spaces with carefully considered décor, the SAMBA adds identity without imposing itself. The 5-light version creates that sense of cohesion that is appreciated in spaces with multiple tables or distinct areas.

The weight of 1,67 kg makes it a manageable lamp to install. The multiple canopy organizes the cables neatly from the ceiling, avoiding the cluttered appearance that sometimes appears in multi-arm lamps. The final result from below is clean: five aligned shades, black structure, distributed light.

For a bedroom or multipurpose room, this lamp, oval in its overall form, creates a clear focal point without needing to add more decorative elements. Simply choosing an LED bulb with the appropriate color temperature will be enough to achieve the atmosphere you are looking for, whether warmer or more neutral.

Installation in bathrooms is not recommended due to the papyrus diffuser's sensitivity to humidity. For kitchens, consider whether the area has sufficient ventilation to avoid continuous exposure to steam.

Questions and answers

Is the 5000 mm cable adjustable in height or does it come fixed at that length?

The cable has a length of 5000 mm, which provides ample room to adjust the hanging height during installation. The excess cable can be gathered inside the canopy depending on the installation model, although it is recommended to consult an electrician to make the adjustment safely.

Does the papyrus shade affect the amount of light the lamp emits?

Papyrus is a material that filters light gently, diffusing it into the surroundings without blocking it. In combination with an E27 LED bulb of adequate power within the 15 W limit, the resulting brightness is sufficient for everyday use in standard-sized interiors.

Is this pendant lamp compatible with dimmer systems?

Compatibility with a dimmer depends on the LED bulb installed, as the light source is not included. To use intensity regulation, it is necessary to purchase an E27 LED bulb with a "dimmable" specification. The lamp itself supports voltage between 100V and 240V, but does not indicate built-in dimming in its structure.
