Overview

SAIPAN is a Mediterranean-style pendant lamp designed for spaces where light not only illuminates but also becomes part of the atmosphere. It is ceiling-mounted and particularly suitable for a living room, dining room, or bedroom where a warm and calm environment is desired.

The oval rattan shade filters light naturally, casting soft shadow patterns on walls and ceiling that transform any corner. It is not a lamp that goes unnoticed, but it does not dominate the space either: it blends well with other elements without imposing itself.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. They work with materials and finishes designed to last, and their catalogue ranges from more classic proposals to designs with a contemporary character. SAIPAN is a good example of their most natural and organic line.

Installation and specifications

Installing this pendant lamp requires a ceiling light point with prepared wiring. It is fixed directly to the ceiling using the included canopy. Before starting installation, make sure to cut the power at the electrical panel. If you have no experience with electrical installations, it is best to hire an electrician. The suspension cable allows the height to be adjusted according to the needs of the space.

The rattan shade does not require special products for cleaning. A dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient to remove accumulated dust. Avoid the use of abrasive products or solvents. The lamp does not include a bulb, so you will need to purchase an E27 bulb compatible with LED. Do not exceed the indicated maximum power of 15 W.

Design and use

The SAIPAN lamp features an oval shade woven in rattan, a plant-based material that adds texture and warmth to the design. The luminaire body is made of steel with a black finish, giving it stability and a clean contrast against the natural shade. This combination of materials is characteristic of a style that blends the organic with the contemporary without feeling overdone.

The oval shape of the pendant shade means that light is not distributed evenly in all directions. Some of it is contained inside, while the rest is projected through the rattan weave onto the walls and ceiling. The result is a pattern of light and shadow that changes slightly depending on the angle from which it is viewed. In a room with light-coloured walls, this effect is more clearly appreciated.

In the living room, this pendant lamp works well above a coffee table or in a reading corner where ambient light matters as much as functional light. It is not the most suitable lamp for illuminating a work area, but it is ideal for creating a light source with personality in relaxation spaces. In the dining room, placed above the table, it provides a more intimate atmosphere without the need to add other decorative elements.

In a bedroom, the oval rattan shade filters light in a way that the atmosphere does not feel too intense during the evening or night hours. When combined with a warm-toned LED bulb, the effect is cosier. It also fits well in a bathroom if it has sufficient ceiling height and adequate ventilation, although in that case it is advisable to verify that the space conditions are suitable for this type of luminaire.

The black finish of the metal body allows the lamp to integrate easily into modern interiors, but also into more rustic or vintage settings where rattan is a common material. It pairs well with light wood furniture, linen or natural cotton fabrics, and surfaces in earth tones or off-white. In a very modern and minimalist space it can serve as an organic point of contrast.

The total height of 2170 mm includes the suspension cable, which allows the position of the shade to be adjusted according to ceiling height. In standard 250 cm ceilings, the lamp will hang at a comfortable height without the shade being too close to the floor. The weight of 1.67 kg is moderate and does not require special anchoring, although it is always advisable to fix the canopy to a solid point on the ceiling.

The kitchen is another space where this type of pendant can have a place, especially in breakfast areas or over a kitchen island where the decorative function carries as much weight as practical lighting. In spaces with a lot of natural light during the day, the lamp acts primarily as a visual element, and when switched on in the evening or at night it completely changes the character of the atmosphere.

Questions and answers

Does the suspension cable of the SAIPAN lamp allow the hanging height of the shade to be adjusted?

Yes. The cable length allows the position of the shade to be adjusted according to ceiling height. The total height indicated in the specifications is 2170 mm, but it can be shortened during installation to adapt it to the space.

Is the oval rattan shade resistant to the heat generated by the bulb?

The maximum admitted power is 15 W, which with an LED bulb generates very little heat. Within that limit, the rattan is not affected. It is not recommended to exceed the indicated power or use other types of bulbs that may generate more heat.

Is the E27 socket of this lamp compatible with any standard LED bulb on the market?

Yes. The E27 socket is the most common on the market and accepts a wide variety of standard LED bulbs. You only need to verify that the power does not exceed 15 W and that the bulb voltage is compatible with the indicated range of 100 V to 240 V.
