Overview

PLAT is a pendant lamp from the brand FARO that works well in spaces where a clean, understated style is desired. The design leaves the bulb exposed, with no shades to cover it, making the light source part of the atmosphere itself. That simple idea is what defines this model.

It is suitable for the living room, dining room, or bedroom. In spaces with medium-height ceilings, the luminaire is suspended from the ceiling and creates a clear focal point without visually overwhelming the surroundings. The lamp is available in two colors that pair well with Scandinavian or Nordic style.

FARO is a Spanish brand with experience in interior lighting. Their products combine functionality and aesthetic sensibility without resorting to overly elaborate solutions.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp, a ceiling outlet prepared for suspension is required. Since the cable has a total length that allows for a considerable drop, it is advisable to measure the height of the space before hanging it to adjust the final position. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, the safest option is to call an electrician. The ceiling fixing must be made on a firm surface that can support the weight of the assembly.

The steel surface in matte black finish does not require special products for cleaning. A soft, slightly damp cloth is sufficient to remove dust or stains. Avoid abrasive products or solvents. Do not handle the lamp with wet hands and disconnect it from the power supply before cleaning it or changing the bulb.

Design and use

The PLAT lamp from FARO starts from a clear premise: letting the bulb be the visible element. There is no shade, no glass diffuser, nothing interposed between the light source and the space. What you see is the structure, the cable, and the bulb. That approach fits well with interiors that prefer the direct over the decorative.

The body is made of steel with a matte black finish. It is a material that holds up well over time without losing its appearance. Matte black, unlike glossy finishes, does not visibly accumulate fingerprints and maintains a neat look with minimal effort. The pendant lamp has a total diameter of 500 mm, a size that gives it presence in the room without being disproportionate.

In the living room, a lamp of this type placed above the central table or in a reading area visually organizes the space. The light falls directly, without dispersing too much, which helps to define zones within the same room. In the dining room, suspended above the table, it serves a similar purpose: it concentrates attention on the point where light is needed while also giving character to the overall setting.

In the kitchen it also makes sense. Above an island or a work counter, the pendant lamp provides precise light exactly where it is needed. The sober style of the model does not compete with the other elements of the space. In the bedroom, if the ceiling allows and the height is sufficient, it can be used as a main lamp or as a secondary light point beside the bed.

The model accepts an E27 LED bulb, although it is not included. Choosing a good quality LED allows you to control both the amount of light and the tone. A bulb with a visible filament, for example, reinforces the aesthetic of the model and fits with the idea of leaving the light source exposed. If you prefer something more Nordic or vintage in appearance, that type of bulb is a good choice.

The lamp is available in two colors. Although this version is presented in matte black, the option to choose between variants allows it to be adapted to different environments without changing the overall design concept. Both colors work well alongside materials such as natural wood, iron, or surfaces in neutral tones.

It is not an oval lamp in its silhouette, but it does have a clean, proportionate circular profile that is visually stable. That balance is what makes it fit into modern spaces without requiring major changes to the rest of the environment. Lights like this, with clean lines and no ornamentation, tend to age well because they do not depend on a specific trend.

For those renovating a room or looking to change the main light point, PLAT offers a solution that needs no justification. Its design speaks for itself without the need for additional embellishments. The pendant lamp integrates discreetly into the ceiling and from there organizes the space naturally.

Questions and answers

Does the cable of the PLAT lamp allow the suspension height from the ceiling to be adjusted?

The lamp has a total height of 1590 mm. Depending on how the cable is managed at the ceiling fixing point, it is possible to regulate the drop. For precise adjustments, consult an electrician during installation.

Is the E27 LED bulb included in the package?

No. The light source is not included. You will need to purchase separately a bulb with an E27 socket compatible with LED and a maximum power of 15 W.

Is the matte black finish of the steel body resistant to marks and scratches in everyday use?

The matte black finish is less sensitive to visible marks than glossy finishes. With basic maintenance, such as wiping with a soft cloth, it retains its appearance well for a long time.
