Overview

The KOMBO lamp by FARO is a pendant luminaire designed for those looking for a simple, hassle-free solution when it comes to lighting a room. Its cylindrical structure combines a black upper section with a grey metal shade that maintains clear proportions and an orderly geometry. The result is a lamp that does not distract, but does not go unnoticed either.

This pendant luminaire works well in everyday spaces: a dining room where the family eats together, a kitchen with a worktop, a medium-sized living room, or a bedroom where ceiling light needs to be direct but not harsh. Being part of a family with different sizes and finishes, it is easy to combine several units in the same space if the project requires it.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior lighting. Its products are found in homes throughout Europe, and the KOMBO line is an example of the practical and clean approach that characterises the brand.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the lamp, check that the ceiling point where the hook will be anchored is solid and prepared to bear the weight of the assembly. The luminaire includes a 5-metre cable and plug, which means it can be connected directly to a socket without the need for fixed electrical installation. The hook is included in the package. Make sure the cable is at a height that does not interfere with foot traffic or furniture.

Clean the shade with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the metal finish. Always disconnect the lamp before cleaning it or changing the bulb. Use only bulbs compatible with the E27 socket and with a maximum power of 15W.

Design and use

The KOMBO series was born from the work of the Nutcreatives studio with a clear objective: to create a pendant lamp that could adapt to different contexts without losing visual coherence. The complete family shares the same black cylindrical structure at the top, which allows different sizes to coexist on the same ceiling without creating aesthetic conflict.

This particular version features a grey metal shade. The metal adds solidity to the assembly while keeping the weight within a reasonable range. The cylindrical shape of the shade directs light downwards in a concentrated manner, making it especially useful above a dining table, a kitchen island, or a work area within a bedroom.

The 5-metre cable allows you to play with the installation height according to the room's ceiling. In rooms with high ceilings, it can be allowed to hang lower to bring the light closer to the surface to be illuminated. In lower ceilings, the excess is gathered up and the lamp remains at a functional distance without taking up more space than necessary.

The plug-in option is practical in several ways. It does not require an electrician to hang it, as a nearby socket is all that is needed. This makes it a good solution for rental flats, rooms under renovation, or any situation where building work is to be avoided. It also makes it easy to move to a different location if the space is reorganised at any point.

The E27 LED socket is compatible with a wide variety of bulbs on the market. Depending on the bulb chosen, the lamp can project warm light for a more intimate atmosphere or neutral light for areas where greater visibility is needed. In a living room, a warm-toned bulb creates a calm atmosphere. In a kitchen or bathroom, a cooler light temperature may be more practical.

From a design perspective, the lamp fits well in contemporary interiors that combine smooth surfaces, neutral colours, and materials such as steel or concrete. The black of the upper body pairs well with dark fixtures, window frames in the same tone, or metal furniture legs. The grey of the shade does not compete with any particular wall colour, making it easy to integrate without having to rethink the existing décor.

In a bedroom, placed above a bedside table or in the centre of the room, it provides a calm presence. In a bathroom with sufficient space, it can function as the main light if the ceiling allows it. In a living room with high ceilings, two or three units aligned create an orderly composition without the need for other decorative elements.

The KOMBO family includes different finishes in addition to grey, allowing pieces from the same system to be mixed with small variations. If the space is extended or an area is redecorated at some point, it is possible to find a luminaire from the same system that maintains visual coherence without starting from scratch.

Questions and answers

Can the 5-metre cable be shortened if the ceiling is low?

Yes. The cable can be gathered and adjusted to the height you need. The hook fixing itself allows you to regulate how much cable remains visible between the ceiling and the lamp.

What type of LED bulb is compatible with this lamp?

The lamp uses an E27 socket and accepts a maximum power of 15W. Any LED bulb on the market with that socket and within that power limit is compatible. The bulb is not included.

Is it possible to install this lamp without doing any work on the ceiling?

Yes. This version of the KOMBO comes with a plug and a 5-metre cable, so it connects directly to a socket. The included hook is fixed to the ceiling without the need for electrical installation.
