Overview

The KOMBO lamp by FARO is a pendant luminaire designed for those who seek a clean, timeless design. Its beige shade and cylindrical black structure create a combination that works well in different home environments: from the dining room to the bedroom, through the living room or kitchen. It is not a piece that competes with its surroundings — rather, it accompanies them effortlessly.

This pendant version comes with a plug and five metres of cable, allowing it to be installed without any building work or direct electrical intervention. The hook is included, so from the very first moment you have everything you need to install it. It is a practical solution for anyone who wants to refresh a room without complications.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Its catalogue combines functionality and aesthetics without excess, and the KOMBO family is a good example of that approach: various sizes and finishes that share a coherent visual language.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the lamp, check that the ceiling support is capable of bearing the weight of the assembly. Since the fixing is by plug, no direct connection to the home's wiring is required: an accessible socket near the hanging point is sufficient. Make sure the hook is properly anchored before hanging the luminaire. If you have any doubts about the ceiling's load capacity, consult a professional.

To clean the metal shade, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the finish. Always switch off the lamp and allow it to cool before cleaning. Do not wet or submerge any part of the assembly.

Design and use

The KOMBO family was born from the work of the Nutcreatives studio with a clear objective: to create a pendant lamp that would work in very different contexts without losing visual coherence. The result is a series with several size and finish options, all featuring that same black cylinder at the top that acts as a unifying element. In this version, the oval shade in beige gives the assembly a soft and restful presence.

The oval shade is made of metal and has a simple geometric profile. That simplicity is not a limitation — it is what makes the lamp fit in so many places. In a dining room, hanging above the table, it generates a concentrated light that defines the space without overwhelming it. In a kitchen, it adds character without stealing the limelight from the surrounding materials. In a bedroom or a more intimate room, its neutral tone blends in without jarring notes.

The five-metre cable offers a great deal of freedom when positioning it. You can adjust the height according to the type of ceiling or the effect you are looking for: lower to create a defined light zone, higher if you want it to illuminate a wider area. The plug makes installation easy without electrical intervention, something appreciated by anyone fitting out a rented flat or wanting to avoid building work.

The black steel body is sturdy and maintains its finish well over time. That contrast between the black of the structure and the beige of the oval shade is one of the design's strong points. It is not a striking contrast — it is more of a quiet tension that gives the piece a certain personality without being aggressive.

As for the type of light, it accepts an LED bulb with an E27 base. With a maximum power of 15 W, it is more than sufficient to comfortably illuminate a specific area. The voltage range of 100 V to 240 V makes it compatible with electrical installations in different countries, a practical detail should you ever move home.

This lamp also works well in hallways where a light point is needed without complex structures. Its vertical, compact profile — 120 mm in diameter — takes up no visual space, and the long cable allows it to be adapted to high ceilings. In a living room with clean-lined décor, the oval shade and black cylinder fit in effortlessly, just as they would alongside light wood furniture or earth-toned walls.

The oval shade is one of those elements that changes depending on the light it receives during the day. In natural light, the beige of the metal has a discreet presence. At night, when the bulb is on, the assembly takes centre stage without being excessive. That dual reading — daytime and night-time — is what makes lights like this work so well in domestic spaces.

Questions and answers

Does the lamp include an LED bulb or does it need to be purchased separately?

The bulb is not included. The lamp accepts a bulb with an E27 base of up to 15 W. You can choose the type of LED light you prefer depending on the atmosphere you want to create.

Can the five-metre cable be shortened if the ceiling is low?

Yes, the cable length is adjustable. You can coil the excess or trim it if necessary, although in that case it is advisable to have someone with basic electrical installation experience do it to avoid connection problems.

Does the oval beige shade withstand the heat generated by the bulb well?

The shade is made of metal, a material that manages heat well under normal use conditions. As long as the indicated maximum power of 15 W is not exceeded, operation is safe and the finish remains in good condition.
