Overview

The HAKA lamp by FARO is a ceiling pendant luminaire with a round rattan shade, designed for those seeking a warm and natural atmosphere at home. It is installed on the ceiling and projects light through the shade's weave, creating a play of soft shadows and reflections on the walls. The result is a lighting effect that does not strain the eyes and transforms the space without the need for major changes.

This pendant lamp fits well in rooms where a light fixture with its own character is desired. The Mediterranean style of HAKA makes it especially suitable for living rooms, dining rooms, and relaxation spaces. The 300 mm shade is a balanced size: neither too large nor too small, making it versatile for different types of rooms.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a track record in interior lighting design. Its products combine textured materials and carefully crafted finishes, aimed at those renovating their home and looking for something more than a functional lamp.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp on the ceiling, an existing light point with a ceiling rose or recessed junction box is required. The cable length allows the height of the shade to be adjusted according to the space. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician. Before connecting any component, the power must be cut at the electrical panel. The ceiling fixing must be made to a firm support capable of bearing the weight of the lamp.

The rattan shade does not require chemical products for cleaning. A dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient to remove accumulated dust. Avoid soaking the weave excessively. The black metal structure can be cleaned with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasives or solvents on any part of the lamp. Replace the bulb only when the luminaire is disconnected from the power supply.

Design and use

The HAKA lamp has an oval rattan shade that defines its character. The natural weave allows light to pass through unevenly, projecting small shadow patterns on the ceiling and nearby walls. This creates an atmosphere reminiscent of Mediterranean spaces: calm, with visual texture and free of artifice. The pendant lamp thus becomes an element that provides both lighting and aesthetic presence.

The luminaire body is made of steel with a matte black finish. This detail unites the warmth of rattan with a more contemporary touch. The black of the bracket and cable contrasts with the natural shade, giving the ensemble a balance between rustic and modern. In a bedroom with bedding in natural tones or in a living room with light wood furniture, this combination works very well.

The 300 mm oval shade is compact and does not take up too much visual space. In a small room, this means you can place it without it dominating the ceiling. In larger spaces, such as a dining room or a living room with a central table, it can be combined with other support lights to achieve balanced lighting. The adjustable cable height allows it to adapt to ceilings of different heights, something appreciated in homes with very different characteristics between rooms.

In the bedroom, a pendant lamp of this type advantageously replaces bedside lamps when installed above the bed. It frees up space on side surfaces and offers a more diffuse and enveloping light. The rattan filters the light from the LED bulb and prevents direct glare, making reading more comfortable and the atmosphere more relaxed before sleep.

In the dining room, HAKA is usually placed above the table. The oval shade directs light downward gently, without creating a harsh light zone. It creates a natural focal point that visually organizes the space around the table. For those with an open-plan kitchen and living room, this lamp can serve as a visual transition between the two areas, maintaining stylistic coherence.

The Mediterranean style of HAKA also suits spacious private bathrooms where a warmer atmosphere than usual is desired. In that context, the lamp complements materials such as ceramics, natural stone, or terracotta. The texture of the rattan adds an organic counterpoint to smoother, cooler surfaces.

Regarding the bulb, the luminaire accepts an E27 socket with LED technology. The bulb is not included, which allows you to choose the color temperature that best suits each use. For a bedroom or living room, warm light reinforces the welcoming atmosphere that the design proposes. The maximum accepted wattage is 15 W, sufficient for ambient lighting in medium-sized spaces.

Questions and answers

Does the cable on the HAKA lamp allow the hanging height of the shade to be adjusted?

Yes, the cable has a total length that allows the position of the shade to be adjusted according to the ceiling height and the needs of each space. The total height of the assembly is 2230 mm, although in most installations it is adjusted by gathering the cable in the ceiling rose.

Does the oval rattan shade affect the amount of light emitted by the lamp?

The rattan weave filters part of the light, distributing it diffusely into the surroundings. This creates a soft lighting effect and produces shadow patterns on nearby surfaces. For ambient lighting, this type of diffusion is appropriate. If more direct and intense light is needed, it is advisable to combine it with other lights in the same room.

Is the black steel body resistant to everyday use or does it require special care?

The black finish on the metal body is durable under normal indoor use conditions. It is easily cleaned with a dry cloth. No additional treatments are needed, although it is advisable to avoid direct impacts or abrasive products that could damage the surface finish.
