Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp on the ceiling, an existing light point with a ceiling box is required. The fixture is secured from the ceiling using the included anchoring element. The cable has a total length that allows the hanging height to be adjusted according to the space. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if there is no prior experience with electrical connections. Before starting, make sure the power is switched off at the electrical panel.

The rattan shade requires no special maintenance. To clean it, simply use a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove accumulated dust. Avoid the use of abrasive products or solvents that could damage the natural fibers. The steel structure can be cleaned with a soft cloth. This lamp is not designed to be installed in bathrooms or areas with high humidity without first verifying the appropriate protection rating.

Design and use

The COSTAS collection was created by designers Alex and Manel Lluscà with a clear idea: to create a lamp that combines simplicity with a Mediterranean feel. The result is a suspension luminaire with an oval rattan shade that filters light without blocking it entirely. That oval shade is not merely decorative; its weave allows light to diffuse naturally to the sides and downward, without creating harsh contrasts.

The matte black steel body serves as the connection point between the cable and the shade. It is a discreet element that does not draw attention, but provides stability and defines the character of the overall piece. The matte black finish avoids reflections and maintains a neutral presence that does not interfere with the rest of the furniture.

This pendant lamp fits well in a living room where overly direct lighting is to be avoided. Installed above a dining table, it visually anchors the space without feeling heavy. The oval shade has a diameter of 600 mm, sufficient to illuminate an area for between four and six seated people. In a kitchen, it can work as a light point above an island or countertop, adding warmth without sacrificing clarity.

In a bedroom, the ceiling lamp creates a relaxed atmosphere. The rattan filters the bulb's light and prevents direct glare, something appreciated in spaces designed for rest. It can also be used in a wide hallway or entrance where a first warm impression is desired upon arriving home.

The visible bulb is a nod to both vintage and Nordic design. It requires no glass or additional element to conceal it. The oval shade itself acts as a natural frame around the bulb, generating that blend of direct light and filtered light that defines the COSTAS style.

In terms of pairing with other elements, this pendant lamp works well with wooden surfaces, linen textiles, straight-lined furniture and neutral color palettes. It can also coexist with iron or ceramic pieces without creating visual conflicts. If the space mixes styles, the rattan shade contributes an organic touch that balances more industrial or modern finishes.

The collection is available in two sizes. This version with a diameter of 600 mm is the larger one, suitable for spaces with normal or high ceilings. In smaller rooms it can become a focal point, while in larger spaces it integrates as part of a composition of several lights. Hanging multiple lamps at different heights above a long table or a kitchen bar is a solution increasingly seen in contemporary interiors.

The lamp is compatible with an E27 LED bulb with a maximum power of 15 W. The bulb is not included, which allows you to choose the color temperature according to the desired atmosphere. A warm LED accentuates the Mediterranean character of the rattan; a neutral LED gives a more contemporary result.

Questions and answers

Does the suspension cable allow the height at which the lamp hangs from the ceiling to be adjusted?

The total cable length is 1500 mm, which provides room to position the lamp at different heights. The adjustment is made during installation by gathering the excess cable in the ceiling fixing element.

Does the oval rattan shade affect the level of illumination that reaches the space?

The rattan weave filters part of the light, but allows a sufficient amount through to illuminate the area beneath the lamp. The bulb remains visible, so part of the light exits directly without passing through the oval shade.

Can this pendant lamp be installed in a bathroom?

It is not suitable for bathrooms or areas with high humidity. It is designed for dry indoor spaces. If a lamp is needed for a bathroom, a model with an appropriate protection rating for that environment should be sought.
