Overview

The CONGA pendant lamp by FARO is a proposal from the Faro Lab line designed for interior lighting. Its oval silhouette and matte black finishes make it compatible with contemporary interiors where visual coherence is sought without overwhelming the space. It works well in a living room, a dining room, or any room where the ceiling is the starting point for organizing light.

The white papyrus shade contrasts with the matte black metal structure. This contrast makes the lamp visually recognizable without the need for additional decorative elements. The oval shape is not just aesthetic: it defines how light is distributed in the space and creates an orderly presence from the ceiling.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a long track record in lighting for the home and hospitality projects. Faro Lab is its design line most oriented toward the visual identity of the product.

Installation and specifications

Installing this pendant lamp requires a ceiling light point with a standard electrical connection. The fixing is direct to the ceiling via the included suspension system. Before starting assembly, make sure to cut the power at the electrical panel. If you have no experience with electrical installations, it is advisable to use a certified electrician. The suspension cable allows the height to be adjusted to find the right position according to the ceiling height and use of the space.

The papyrus shade must not be cleaned with liquid products or damp cloths. For the matte black steel body, a dry or slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Avoid the use of abrasives. The bulb is not included: use an E27 LED light source with a maximum power of 15 W. Do not exceed this limit to protect both the lamp and the shade.

Design and use

The CONGA collection was born within Faro Lab with a clear premise: to create a ceiling lamp with its own identity without imposing a closed style. The matte black steel structure provides solidity and a clean profile. The white papyrus shade softens the light and adds warmth to the environment without losing the modern character of the whole.

The oval shape of the shade is one of the elements that most defines this pendant lamp. Unlike a spherical or cylindrical shade, the oval silhouette occupies space in a more horizontal way, making it especially suitable for dining tables or reading areas where light is to be concentrated in a specific area. This profile also works well in living rooms with standard ceilings, where a piece that is too vertical could appear disproportionate.

In a dining room, the CONGA pendant lamp can be placed centered over the table to create a defined light point that visually organizes the space. The papyrus shade diffuses light softly, avoiding direct glare. The white finish of the diffuser contrasts with the matte black body without creating an abrupt break: it is a balanced contrast that adds to the whole.

In a bedroom, this ceiling lamp can replace the usual flush mount when the aim is to add an element with more visual presence. The light it produces is warm and diffuse, suitable for a calm atmosphere. In a medium-sized room, a single unit is sufficient to illuminate the space uniformly.

For a bathroom, it is always necessary to verify that the installation point is outside the wet zones defined by electrical regulations. If the bathroom ceiling meets this condition, the lamp can be integrated without issue. The same applies to the kitchen: installed above the work area or island, the CONGA pendant provides functional light with a finish that does not clash with furniture in neutral colors or industrial materials.

This ceiling lamp is also recommended for hospitality projects, such as restaurants, hotels, or coworking spaces. Its oval design and the chosen materials make it resistant to continuous use. In those environments, where lights remain on for hours, the combination of steel and papyrus ensures durability without sacrificing visual appearance.

Compatibility with E27 LED makes consumption management straightforward. Although the bulb is not included, the E27 socket is one of the most common on the market, so finding the right option presents no difficulty. With a maximum power of 15 W, the luminous output is more than sufficient for domestic use spaces.

As for combining with other elements, the CONGA pendant lamp adapts well to interiors where materials such as wood, iron, or glass coexist. The matte black of the body connects with dark hardware, black window frames, or furniture with metal legs. The white papyrus shade does not compete with light-colored walls or textiles in neutral tones.

Questions and answers

Is the papyrus material of the shade resistant to everyday use?

Papyrus is a lightweight and stable material under normal indoor conditions. It is not designed for environments with high humidity or direct heat exposure. Under typical domestic conditions, it maintains its shape and appearance without issues. It only requires dry cleaning with a soft cloth.

Does the oval shape of the shade affect how light is distributed in the room?

Yes. The oval silhouette projects light in a more horizontal way than a round or cylindrical shade. This makes it especially suitable for illuminating long tables or work areas, where the aim is to cover a specific surface without concentrating the entire beam at a single point.

Is it possible to adjust the height of the suspension cable to adapt it to different ceilings?

The total height of the assembly is 2052 mm, but the suspension cable allows the position of the pendant lamp to be adjusted during installation. This way, the distance to the ceiling can be adapted to the needs of each space, without it being either too high or too low relative to the surface to be illuminated.
