Overview

The FARO COCOTTE lamp is a hanging ceiling luminaire designed for interiors where the balance between form and function matters. Its design was created by Jordi Llopis, and the result is a piece that draws attention without needing extra ornamentation. The aluminum metal base does not fade into the background: it is a visible part of the design, and that sets it apart from other pendant lamps where the structure is intentionally hidden.

This S version has a diameter of 43 cm, making it suitable for medium-sized spaces: a dining room, a living room, or a bedroom with standard ceiling height. The integrated SMD LED light emits at 3000K, a warm temperature that does not strain the eyes and creates a calm atmosphere without feeling too intimate.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Its products combine original design with careful manufacturing, and can be found in both residential projects and high-end interior design spaces.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp, an existing ceiling light point is required. The fixture is attached directly to the ceiling using the included bracket. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially if this is the first time a suspension luminaire is being installed at that point. Before starting, make sure to cut the power from the electrical panel. The suspension cable allows the hanging height to be adjusted according to the needs of the space.

To clean the aluminum body, simply use a soft dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the gloss white finish. The PMMA opal diffuser is cleaned in the same way: without scrubbing hard and without aggressive chemical products. Do not touch the light source with unprotected hands, and always make sure the lamp is disconnected before any maintenance.

Design and use

The COCOTTE lamp has an oval shape that stands out from the very first moment. It is not a conventional silhouette nor does it imitate already-seen references: the aluminum metal base acts as a visible structural element, giving it a particular presence. The PMMA opal diffuser softens the LED light and distributes it evenly downward and to the sides, without creating uncomfortable bright spots.

With a diameter of 43 cm, this oval version fits well above a medium-sized dining table, in the center of a living room, or as a focal point in a bedroom. The total installation height can be adapted to the space thanks to the suspension cable, which allows it to be placed closer to the surface to be lit or left at mid-height so it is more visible as a decorative element.

The gloss white finish of the body does not age easily and integrates effortlessly with white, grey, or neutral-toned walls. It also contrasts well with dark surfaces or materials such as wood or iron, if the rest of the space incorporates them. It is a modern lamp that does not compete with the furniture: it complements it.

The 3000K light emitted by this pendant luminaire is warm without being orange. It is the type of light that works well in a dining room during dinner, in a living room in the afternoon, or in a bedroom when a more relaxed atmosphere is desired. SMD LED lights have a long lifespan, which means there is no need to worry about replacement for a long time.

In a kitchen with a central island, a pendant lamp of these dimensions can define the space without needing additional support lights above that area. In a large bathroom with a high ceiling, a design piece like COCOTTE can be the detail that changes the perception of the whole. It also works well in a guest room where something clean and understated is desired.

The oval shape and pendant profile of this lamp are compatible with a variety of styles: from minimalist interiors to spaces with a greater mix of materials. It does not require a specific environment to work. It adapts to whatever surrounds it, and that is what makes it practical for those renovating a space without wanting to be confined to a single style.

Questions and answers

Does the PMMA opal diffuser affect the amount of light that reaches the space?

The opal diffuser disperses the LED light to prevent direct glare. Some intensity is absorbed in that process, but the distribution is more uniform and pleasant. For spaces where a lot of functional light is needed, it can be supplemented with additional support lights.

Is the hanging height of 1205 mm fixed or can it be adjusted?

The indicated height corresponds to the maximum length of the suspension cable. During installation it is possible to cut or gather the cable to adapt the position of the pendant lamp to the ceiling height and the needs of the space.

Does the weight of 1.67 kg require any special ceiling anchoring?

It is not a high weight for a ceiling luminaire of these dimensions. In most cases, standard ceiling anchoring is sufficient. If the ceiling is made of drywall or a similar material, it is advisable to use an appropriate wall plug for that type of support.
