Overview

MOON is a wall light designed for outdoor use, manufactured by FARO, a brand with years of experience in lighting for homes and outdoor spaces. This lamp combines aluminium and opal polycarbonate in a compact, clean-lined form that fits well in house entrances, façades, terraces or gardens where continuous, uniform light is desired.

The MOON wall light addresses a specific need: illuminating the exterior in a stable way, without visible cables or elements that clash with the surroundings. Its opal diffuser distributes light without creating bright spots or harsh shadows, which is especially useful in passageways or access areas. FARO has been developing outdoor luminaires for years using materials designed to withstand environmental conditions, and MOON is a good example of that approach.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall light on an exterior wall, it is recommended to cut the power supply before starting any work. The connection point must be prepared in advance in the wall, as the lamp is fixed directly to the surface without a visible junction box. It is advisable to use appropriate plugs and screws for the type of wall, whether brick, concrete or block. If you have no experience with electrical installations, the safest option is to hire an electrician.

To keep the wall light in good condition, simply clean the surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive products or solvents on the aluminium body or on the PMMA diffuser. Periodically check that the fixing screws are properly tightened, especially after seasons with strong winds or heavy rain.

Design and use

The MOON wall light has a restrained silhouette that does not draw attention to itself, but instead integrates into the wall effortlessly. Its dark grey finish works well on neutral-coloured façades, stone walls or surfaces painted in earthy tones. It is not a lamp that seeks to stand out visually, but rather to accompany the space with a discreet and functional presence.

The aluminium body gives it solidity without adding unnecessary weight. It is a material that tolerates temperature changes and outdoor humidity well, making it suitable for areas exposed to sun or occasional rain. The opal PMMA diffuser does its job without complications: it allows light to pass through in a diffused manner, without creating annoying reflections or concentrating the beam at a single point. This is especially useful in access areas, where the light needs to be comfortable for the eyes.

At 260 mm tall and 180 mm wide, the wall light is a balanced size. It is not so small as to seem insignificant, nor so large as to take up too much visual space on the wall. It works well installed at eye level, around 180 or 200 cm from the floor, at main or side entrances to the home. It can also be placed on a covered terrace, a porch or at the entrance to a garden, where the lamp provides illumination for the area without the need for a high-powered spotlight.

The E27 socket is compatible with most LED bulbs available on the market. Since the light source is not included, you can choose the colour temperature that best suits the environment: a warmer light if you want to create a welcoming atmosphere on the terrace or in the garden, or a more neutral light for an access area where visibility is the priority. The maximum admitted power is 15 W, sufficient to cover the typical usage area of this type of wall light.

Although the MOON design does not incorporate a motion sensor or integrated detector, it can be combined with an external switch with a motion sensor installed in the circuit, if you want to automate switching on. This option is common in entrances where the lamp only needs to be on while people are passing through, thus avoiding continuous energy consumption. The wall light is compatible with this type of configuration without any modification.

In terms of integration with the surroundings, the MOON wall light works well alongside materials such as wood, stone and exposed concrete. In gardens with dense vegetation, the dark grey body blends into the environment without creating excessive contrast. On more urban façades, the metallic finish adds a sober touch that does not clash with other architectural elements. It is a luminaire that does not impose a specific style, but rather adapts to what already exists.

Questions and answers

Does the MOON wall light include the LED bulb for operation?

No, the light source is not included. The wall light has an E27 socket, compatible with most standard LED bulbs available in lighting shops or large retail stores.

Is it possible to install this wall light in an area directly exposed to sun and rain?

The wall light is categorised as an outdoor luminaire and manufactured in aluminium with a PMMA diffuser, materials suitable for exposed environments. It is recommended to review the specific installation conditions in areas with very heavy rainfall or prolonged sun exposure.

Does the MOON wall light accept a bulb of any wattage with an E27 socket?

The maximum admitted power is 15 W. It is not recommended to exceed this value, regardless of whether the bulb has an E27 socket. Using a bulb above this limit may damage the wall light or reduce its lifespan.
