Overview

LAKO is a wall light for outdoor use, manufactured by the Spanish brand FARO. It is designed to be installed on facades, entrances, terraces and any outdoor area where a functional lamp with a good presence is needed. The housing combines aluminum and wood with a teak finish, giving it a warm appearance without losing solidity against outdoor conditions.

The light is projected in a single direction, downward or to the side, depending on the mounting orientation. This allows you to control exactly which area is illuminated, without unnecessary dispersion. The prismatic glass diffuser softens the light output and prevents direct glare.

FARO is a company with extensive experience in home and outdoor lighting. Their luminaires combine quality materials with careful design, intended to last and maintain their appearance over time.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This wall light is fixed directly to the wall using screws. Before starting, check that the surface is firm and that the wiring is properly protected for outdoor use. The connection must be made by a qualified electrician, as the wall light operates at mains voltages between 220V and 240V. Respect the 90-degree projection angle covered by the lamp: place it at a height that allows you to illuminate the area you need without pointing directly at walkways.

Use and maintenance. Clean the wood and aluminum surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or those containing solvents, especially on the teak finish. The glass diffuser can be cleaned with a soft cloth when the wall light is switched off and cold. The LED light source is included and does not require regular replacement. Do not cover the wall light or install it in areas without adequate ventilation.

Design and use

The LAKO wall light by FARO has a compact profile that fits well at house entrances, gardens, garages or terraces without taking up space or drawing too much attention. With only 222 mm in length and 51 mm in height, it is a discreet lamp that fulfills its function without imposing itself visually.

The body of the wall light combines two materials: aluminum and wood with a teak finish. The aluminum provides strength and lightness, while the wood adds visual warmth to the overall design. This type of combination is especially useful on facades with natural cladding, gardens with abundant vegetation or areas where concrete or brick might look too cold visually. The lamp fits effortlessly into rustic environments or those with natural materials, although it can also work well in more modern outdoor settings if a contrast between the organic and the structured is desired.

The prismatic glass diffuser distributes light in a controlled manner. By projecting at a 90-degree angle to one side only, the lamp concentrates illumination exactly where it is needed: above the front door, along a path, over a garden wall or on the wall of a terrace. This prevents light from being lost towards the sky or towards areas that do not require illumination. The color temperature of 3000K provides warm white light, close to incandescent light, which is welcoming without being excessively yellow.

The IP65 protection rating ensures that the wall light operates without problems in rain and against dust ingress. This makes it suitable for permanent outdoor installations, without the need to remove it depending on the season. It is not a spot light for occasional use or an adapted indoor wall light: it is designed from the outset to withstand the elements.

With 8W of LED power, energy consumption is low. The SMD LED light source is already included, so there is no need to purchase anything additional to start using it. Energy class F corresponds to the new European labeling scale, and this should be taken into account when comparing with products labeled under the previous system.

This wall light can be installed at residential entrances, garages, terraces or garden areas that require focused and continuous illumination. It can also be combined with other outdoor luminaires from the same range to create a coherent light distribution along a facade or access path. The teak finish integrates well with wooden doors, pergolas, fences or treated wooden structures that appear in the same space.

For those looking for a wall light that does not require complex installation or frequent maintenance, LAKO offers a straightforward solution: it is fixed to the wall, connected to the mains and provides warm light at the exact point where it is placed.

Questions and answers

Does the LAKO wall light include the LED light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The SMD LED light source is already included with the wall light. It is not necessary to purchase it separately or carry out any additional bulb installation before connecting the lamp.

What does it mean that the lamp projects light 90 degrees to one side only?

It means that the light beam is not distributed in all directions, but is directed only towards one sector of the space. This allows illumination to be concentrated on a specific area, such as an entrance, a path or a garden area, without lighting adjacent areas.

Is IP65 protection sufficient for installations in areas exposed to direct rain?

Yes. The IP65 rating guarantees total protection against dust and resistance to water jets from any direction. The wall light can be installed on facades or uncovered outdoor areas, such as terraces or gardens exposed to rain.
