Overview

The KOV wall light by FARO is a wall lamp designed for outdoor use. It fits well on facades, entrances, terraces, and passageways where focused and discreet lighting is needed. Its round shape and black finish give it a clean look that blends effortlessly into walls made of different materials.

The lamp offers direct or indirect light depending on how it is installed, with the light source recessed to avoid glare. It can be mounted vertically or horizontally, and allows light to be directed upward, downward, or in both directions at the same time. This provides some freedom when deciding how to illuminate each space.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in the design and manufacture of luminaires. Their outdoor products combine functionality with careful design, intended to integrate into different types of environments.

Installation and specifications

For installation, a wall junction box prepared for surface-mounted wall lights is required. Since this is an outdoor lamp, it is important that the wiring is properly sealed and protected before fixing the body to the wall. If you do not have experience with outdoor electrical installations, it is most advisable to have an electrician do it.

For cleaning, a dry or slightly damp cloth on the aluminium surface is sufficient. Abrasive products or solvents that could damage the finish should not be used. It is advisable to periodically check that the fixing points are secure and that there is no dirt build-up in the built-in drainage system.

Design and use

The KOV wall light is made of aluminium, a material that withstands outdoor conditions well without adding too much weight to the overall unit. Weighing just 1.09 kg, it is easy to handle during installation. Its matt black finish is discreet and does not accumulate visible marks over time.

The design of this lamp includes an internal drainage system that prevents water from becoming trapped inside the body. This is especially relevant in areas with frequent rainfall or on north-facing facades where moisture takes longer to disappear. The system works passively, with no additional maintenance required.

One of the distinguishing features of this wall light is the possibility of choosing between two 14-degree projection angles, one directed upward and one directed downward. This allows precise control over the area that receives light, which is useful when you want to highlight a texture on the wall or simply mark a path without illuminating more than necessary. The light source is recessed inside the body, so there is no direct exposure that could be bothersome to the eye.

The 2700K colour temperature produces a warm light, similar to that of a traditional incandescent bulb. In a garden or on a terrace, that tone creates a more welcoming atmosphere than cool light, and integrates better with natural materials such as stone, wood, or brick. It also works well on facades with more modern finishes, where the contrast between the black of the wall light and the warm light is quite visually effective.

The COB LED light source is already included in the wall light. There is no need to purchase it separately or look for compatibility. It operates on standard voltage of 220V-240V, the same as the rest of the domestic installation.

The wall light can be mounted in both vertical and horizontal positions. This flexibility makes it useful in situations where the available wall space determines the orientation of the fitting. A narrow entrance, a pillar, a window side, or a garden wall with little vertical space are cases where this option can make a difference.

As for dimensions, the body measures 212 mm in height and 87 mm in depth, with a diameter of 80 mm. It is a compact wall light that does not protrude too much from the wall. On very flat facades or walls with little relief, that contained profile fits well without drawing too much attention to itself.

The integrated LED technology spotlight ensures low consumption with a maximum power of 2x6W. For an outdoor lamp in continuous use, that figure is relevant to the cumulative consumption over the course of a year. Combining this wall light with an external motion sensor is an option that some users consider for passageways where the light does not need to be on permanently.

Questions and answers

Can the KOV wall light be installed in a horizontal position as well as vertical?

Yes. The wall light is designed to be mounted in both vertical and horizontal positions on the wall, allowing it to be adapted to different installation configurations.

What colour temperature does the included lamp have and what kind of atmosphere does it create?

The light source has a colour temperature of 2700K, which produces a warm light. It is a tone associated with more welcoming atmospheres and works well outdoors with natural materials or facades in neutral tones.

Does the KOV wall light have any system to prevent water build-up inside?

Yes. The body incorporates a drainage system that prevents water from becoming trapped inside, which is especially useful in outdoor installations exposed to rain or ambient humidity.
