Overview

The FARO KOV wall light is an outdoor lamp designed for wall mounting. It works well at house entrances, facades, covered patios and terraces where focused and discreet lighting is needed. Its compact format and white finish allow it to be integrated into different types of surfaces without being eye-catching.

The lamp emits direct and indirect light thanks to an LED source recessed inside. This eliminates direct glare and makes the light appear softer on the wall and surroundings. It can be installed in a vertical or horizontal position, providing some flexibility depending on the space and how you want to direct the light beam.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a track record in the lighting sector, both indoor and outdoor. Their wall lights combine technical criteria with functional design built to last.

Installation and specifications

For installation, you need a recessed box in the wall or the possibility of routing the wiring through the inside of the wall. The wall light is fixed directly onto the vertical surface. Before mounting the lamp, make sure to cut the power at the electrical panel. If you do not have experience with outdoor electrical installations, it is advisable to have an electrician carry out the work.

To clean the wall light, a dry or slightly damp cloth on the aluminium housing is sufficient. Abrasive products or solvents should not be used. Water must be kept away from the connection areas during cleaning. The lamp is designed for outdoor use, but that does not mean it is advisable to expose it to direct jets of water during maintenance.

Design and use

The KOV is an outdoor wall light with a cylindrical body in white lacquered aluminium. The shape is clean and unadorned, making it compatible with both modern facades and more neutrally styled walls. It does not take up much space: at 108 mm in height and 80 mm in diameter, it integrates well without imposing itself visually.

The light source is recessed inside the body of the wall light. This means the bulb is not directly exposed to view, avoiding the glare effect found in some outdoor luminaires where the LED is visible. The light is projected at an angle of 23 degrees, meaning it is quite concentrated. It is useful when you want to illuminate a specific area: the surround of a door, a section of facade or the side of a terrace.

The wall light can emit light in one or two directions, and its orientation can be rotated depending on whether it is mounted vertically or horizontally. This allows the lamp to be adapted to different situations without needing to look for another model. At an entrance, mounted vertically, it can project light towards the ground to mark the access point. On the side of a terrace, mounted horizontally, it can distribute light along the wall.

The colour temperature is 3000K, which corresponds to warm white light. It is a tone that feels welcoming in outdoor night-time settings and does not produce the clinical light effect given by higher colour temperatures. For a garden, an entrance or a patio, this colour range is common because it complements vegetation and building materials well.

The aluminium used to construct the wall light is a suitable material for outdoor use: it does not rust like untreated steel and withstands temperature changes well. The white finish is designed to maintain the aesthetic of the product over time without requiring special maintenance. The piece also includes an internal drainage system that prevents water from accumulating inside the body, which is important in climates where it rains frequently or in areas where the wall light is more exposed.

The lamp comes with the light source already included. The integrated COB LED operates at 6W, low consumption for an outdoor wall light. It is not a lamp designed to illuminate large surfaces, but rather to create precise points of light: next to a door, on the entrance wall, flanking a window or marking a path in the garden.

The KOV design does not incorporate a motion sensor or presence detector. It is a continuously operating lamp, controlled from the switch or from the home's electrical system. If you need to automate switching by daylight or by movement, an external compatible device would need to be added.

Questions and answers

Can the KOV wall light be installed in both vertical and horizontal positions?

Yes. The wall light is designed to be mounted in both positions on the wall. The mounting orientation also influences the direction of the light beam, allowing it to be adapted to different needs depending on the space.

Is the COB LED light source included with the wall light?

Yes, the lamp is delivered with the light source already integrated. No additional components need to be purchased for the wall light to function.

What is the drainage system incorporated in the wall light for?

The drainage system prevents rainwater or condensation from accumulating inside the body of the wall light. It is designed for outdoor installations where the lamp may be exposed to humid conditions.
