Overview

BU-OH is an outdoor wall-mounted lamp. Its shape is reminiscent of an owl's eyes, and that idea is not merely decorative: it defines the way the wall light distributes light in four directions, illuminating the surroundings evenly without creating shadow areas.

The wall light belongs to the BU-OH series by FARO, a Spanish brand with years of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Estudi Ribaudí signed the design of this lamp, which is evident in the attention to detail and in how form and function are balanced. The result is a wall light that does not go unnoticed, yet does not overwhelm the façade.

The lamp includes an integrated 12W LED light source with warm light at 3000K. There is no need to purchase additional bulbs: it is ready to install and use from day one.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the wall light, make sure the wall where it will be mounted is solid and in good condition. As this is an outdoor wall-mounted luminaire, installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician. The power must be switched off before starting any work with the wiring. Check that the installation voltage is compatible with the range indicated in the specifications.

To clean the surface of the wall light, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the aluminium finish or the PC diffuser. Do not direct pressurised water directly onto the lamp. Periodically check the fixings to make sure they remain secure, especially after periods of heavy rain or wind.

Design and use

The body of the BU-OH wall light is made of aluminium with a dark grey finish. Aluminium is a material that is resistant to outdoor conditions: it does not oxidise easily, withstands temperature changes and maintains its appearance over time. The dark grey colour gives it a sober profile that integrates well both with façades in neutral tones and with more contemporary finishes.

The diffuser is made of opal polycarbonate. This material allows light to be emitted in a diffuse manner, without bright spots or harsh contrasts. The lamp emits light on all four sides, which means the wall is illuminated in several directions at once. This characteristic makes it particularly useful at entrances, access points or areas where a clear luminous presence is desired without installing multiple light sources.

The colour temperature is 3000K, which corresponds to warm light. This type of light creates a more welcoming atmosphere than cool light and is more pleasant during the evening and night hours. The feeling it generates is calm, without the harshness that intense white lighting sometimes has.

At 155 mm high and 155 mm long, with a depth of just 90 mm, the wall light takes up little space on the wall. It is compact, but visually has a presence thanks to its distinctive shape. It is not a lamp that can be confused with any other generic wall light: the reference to the owl is subtle but recognisable.

This wall lamp fits well at the entrances of single-family homes, patios, terraces or any outdoor area that needs functional lighting with a touch of character. It can also be used in outdoor corridors or communal access areas where a wall light that is not entirely anonymous is desired.

Estudi Ribaudí's design starts from a clear idea: that the form should make sense with what the product does. In this case, the two elements that simulate eyes are exactly where the light comes out. It is not added ornamentation, but part of the function. This approach makes the lamp modern without feeling forced.

In terms of compatibility with the surroundings, the dark grey of the body pairs well with stone cladding, exposed concrete, dark wood or façades painted in earthy tones. If the exterior has a more refined style, the BU-OH wall light can be a detail that reinforces that visual coherence without the need to look for more complex or elaborate pieces.

The integrated 12W LED light source provides sufficient power to comfortably illuminate an access area or a section of exterior wall. Being LED, energy consumption is reduced compared to traditional sources of equivalent power, and the service life is considerably longer, which reduces the need for long-term maintenance.

Questions and answers

Does the BU-OH wall light emit light only to the front or in several directions?

This lamp emits light on all four sides thanks to the distribution of the opal diffuser. It does not concentrate the light in a single direction, but illuminates the surroundings more broadly, which is useful at entrances and passageways.

Is the LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 12W SMD LED light source is integrated into the lamp and included as standard. There is no need to purchase any additional bulb; the wall light is ready to be connected and installed directly.

Does the aluminium body require any special treatment to withstand outdoor conditions?

No additional treatments are required. The aluminium with a dark grey finish is prepared for outdoor use and withstands normal weather conditions without the need for specific protective products. Regular cleaning with a soft cloth is sufficient.
