Overview

The LILY 650 beacon by Faro in black finish is an outdoor luminaire designed to illuminate gardens, paths, driveways and planted areas. It is installed directly in the ground and projects light upwards, creating an effect in which plants and shrubs appear to light up on their own. The slim-profile metal structure tends to disappear visually at night, leaving only the light visible.

Thanks to its IP65 protection, this beacon withstands rain, humidity and dust without issue. It is designed to operate outdoors all year round, with no need to remove it during rainy seasons or protect it in any special way.

Faro is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Their products combine technical criteria with attention to finish and visual integration within the space.

Installation and specifications

To install this beacon in the ground, underground wiring must be prepared in advance up to the installation point. The connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician, as the cable must arrive buried and protected up to the base of the luminaire. Before securing the beacon, check that the ground is firm and level. It should not be installed in areas where water may accumulate continuously at the base.

To clean the stainless steel body, a damp cloth is sufficient and, if necessary, a neutral product with no abrasive components. The glass diffuser can be cleaned in the same way. Avoid solvents or products containing chlorine. Periodically check that the seal of the unit is in good condition, especially after periods of heavy rain.

Design and use

The LILY 650 is an outdoor beacon with a design that prioritises structural discretion. The stainless steel body with black finish has a slender profile, barely visible once night falls. This allows attention to fall on what is being illuminated, not on the fixture itself. In a garden with plants, shrubs or borders, the result is lighting that appears to emerge from the surroundings themselves.

The light source is a 3W COB LED with a colour temperature of 2700K, producing a warm light similar to that of an electric candle. This tone is particularly suited to residential outdoor settings, where cool or white light can feel too harsh. The transparent glass diffuser allows light to pass through without filtering it excessively, maintaining the performance of the LED without adding opacity.

At 650 mm in height, the beacon sits close to ground level, without raising the light source above low vegetation. This makes it useful for marking paths or kerbs without creating light points that are too high and interrupt the view of the garden. On terraces and patios it can also be integrated along a perimeter or beside steps to define the boundaries of the space.

The IP65 protection guarantees that the luminaire is sealed against dust ingress and resistant to water jets from any direction. This rating is suitable for outdoor use in climates with frequent rainfall, with no need for additional protection. No seasonal cover of any kind is required.

Regarding installation, the beacon is fixed to the ground and requires an electrical connection from the mains supply via buried cabling. The fixture is neither autonomous nor solar-powered, so planning the cabling is an important part of the process. Once installed, it requires no frequent maintenance beyond occasional cleaning.

Visually, the beacon integrates well in contemporary-design gardens, where clean lines and dark materials are common. It can also work in more natural gardens, where the black body is absorbed by the surrounding vegetation. On a terrace with dark paving or a patio with natural stone, the black finish of the body does not look out of place.

The weight of 1.67 kg and compact dimensions make the piece manageable during installation. The glass diffuser is sturdy, but should be handled with care to avoid direct impacts. The LED light source is included, so there is no need to purchase it separately.

Lights of this type are a discreet alternative to floor-standing lanterns or conventional street lights. They create less visual presence but effectively mark routes and the boundaries of outdoor spaces. Combined in series along a path or alongside lower-height beacons, they allow for coherent and balanced lighting without resorting to higher-power floodlights.

Questions and answers

Is the LILY 650 beacon suitable for installation in areas exposed to frequent rain?

Yes. It features IP65 protection, meaning it is sealed against dust and resistant to direct water jets. It is suitable for outdoor use in climates with regular rainfall, with no need to protect or remove it during the rainy season.

Is the LED light source included or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 3W COB LED light source is included with the luminaire. There is no need to purchase it separately or make any additional adaptations before installation.

What type of wiring does ground installation require?

As this is a ground-mounted beacon connected to the mains supply, the wiring must arrive buried at the installation point. It is recommended that the connection be carried out by a qualified electrician to ensure the safety of the whole assembly.
