Overview

A well-chosen outdoor wall light changes how a facade or garden looks after dark. This recessed wall luminaire from FARO is designed for those looking for a discreet and functional solution to illuminate outdoor areas: entrances, corridors, garden walls, terraces, or any exterior space that needs clear and constant marking.

The dark grey aluminium body integrates well with stone, concrete, or modern cladding surfaces. The transparent polycarbonate diffuser lets light through without interruption. The 3W SMD LED light source with a colour temperature of 3000K produces a warm light that is not harsh and suits the outdoor night-time atmosphere well.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Their outdoor products are designed to work in real conditions: humidity, temperature changes, and continuous use. The wall light includes the driver, so you do not need to purchase additional components for installation.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the wall light, check that the wall where you are going to fix the luminaire is solid and dry. As this is a recessed outdoor luminaire, it is important to prepare the recess in the wall with the correct dimensions: 135 mm high, 90 mm long, and 57 mm deep. Cut the power supply before handling any wiring. If you do not have experience with electrical installations, the safest option is to hire an electrician. The driver is already included, so you do not need to install any additional components.

To clean the surface of the wall light, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the aluminium or polycarbonate. Periodically check that the diffuser is free of accumulated dirt, as this can affect the quality of the light. Do not handle the luminaire while it is connected to the electrical mains.

Design and use

The FARO outdoor wall light has a compact design that does not draw too much attention during the day, but performs its function well when it gets dark. Being recessed into the wall, it does not protrude like a conventional lamp and takes up little visual space on the facade or in the garden.

The aluminium body provides durability without adding weight. At just 0.2 kg, it is easy to handle during installation. The dark grey finish is a neutral tone that works well with a wide variety of surfaces: exposed brick, render, natural stone, or composite panels. It does not impose a particular style, making it useful in both more rustic settings and facades with clean lines.

The transparent polycarbonate diffuser does not distort the colour of the light or create unexpected shadows. The 3000K temperature offers a warm white tone, close to candlelight, but more stable and uniform. This type of lighting is common at house entrances, outdoor corridors, or garden areas where you want to mark a path without causing glare.

The 3W SMD LED spotlight consumes very little energy for its purpose. It is a wall light designed for marking, not for illuminating large surfaces. It works well when several light points are installed along a wall or path, forming a sequence that guides without the need for a higher-powered lamp.

On a terrace, this type of wall light can be installed on the side wall to mark the boundary of the space or highlight a specific area. In an inner courtyard, several of these recessed wall spotlights create a tidy atmosphere with no visible cables. At the entrance to a home, a single wall light at the right height is sufficient to clearly identify the access point.

The luminaire does not incorporate a motion sensor and does not run on solar energy, so it requires a fixed electrical connection. This feature makes it more suitable for permanent installations where manual or external timer control is desired. As it does not depend on sunlight or motion detection, the light is constant throughout the entire time it is switched on, without interruptions or variations.

The FARO recessed wall light is a straightforward solution for those who want to improve their outdoor lighting in a lasting way, without decorative elements that may become dated over time. Its small scale makes it compatible with spaces where a large lantern or a floor lamp would be excessive.
