Overview

GRUND is an LED recessed floor light designed to mark pathways, define transit areas, and outline the boundaries of a terrace or garden. It is installed flush with the floor surface, with no visible frames, and projects warm light upward with a 36-degree optic. The result is directed, discreet, and clean lighting, with no elements interrupting the floor surface.

This recessed spotlight is a suitable option when you want to illuminate an exterior without adding volume or structure. No posts, no visible cables, no protruding parts. The lamp is integrated into the floor and the spotlight does its job from below, naturally guiding the path.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in residential and architectural lighting. Its outdoor products are designed to withstand the conditions of real-world use — rain, dust, pressure — and to maintain a neat appearance over time.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This recessed floor light requires a prior junction box in the paving or mortar layer, with sufficient space to accommodate the body of the spotlight and the wiring. The working voltage is 24VDC, so the installation requires a compatible external transformer or driver. It is recommended to carry out the assembly with the floor dry and to verify the watertightness of the connections before covering the access. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician.

Use and maintenance. The transparent glass diffuser may accumulate dust or dirt over time. To clean it, simply use a slightly damp cloth; abrasive products or solvents should not be used. The black aluminium body requires no additional treatment. Although the spotlight has IP67 protection, it is recommended to periodically check the seal between the frame and the paving to ensure there are no leaks due to ground movement.

Design and use

The GRUND recessed spotlight integrates into the floor without leaving any element visible above the floor plane. This outdoor lighting solution is designed for those who want a clean result, where light is present without the fixture being seen. On simply designed terraces, garden paths, or pedestrian transit areas, this type of spotlight provides visual guidance without altering the aesthetic of the space.

The body is made of black aluminium, a material that combines lightness with durability. Aluminium handles temperature changes and water exposure well, and the matte black finish remains stable with regular outdoor use. The diffuser is made of transparent glass, which allows light to exit directly, without filters that reduce its efficiency.

The 36-degree optic concentrates the light beam. This is not a spotlight that illuminates in all directions, but rather projects toward a specific point. This is useful when you want to mark a path in the garden or highlight a specific area of the patio. The colour temperature of 2700K produces warm light, similar to that of a candle or a low-wattage incandescent bulb. That tone is not harsh in open-air spaces and helps create a calm atmosphere at dusk.

The trimless format — with no visible ring or frame — is what distinguishes this recessed light from other more conventional models. When installed in the floor, only the glass is visible at floor level. In stone, concrete, or composite wood paving, this detail makes a visible difference. The lighting appears almost imperceptibly, as if the surface itself were emitting light.

The IP67 rating guarantees complete protection against dust and resistance to temporary immersion in water. This makes it suitable for areas exposed to direct rain, such as an exterior facade or an uncovered garden. It also withstands regular pedestrian traffic without the structure being affected.

The compact size — 50 mm in diameter — allows it to be installed in tight spaces, between small-format paving pieces or on steps with little lateral clearance. Several spotlights aligned along a path create an effective visual guide at night, without the need for posts or other outdoor lighting structures.

This recessed spotlight works well in combination with other garden or patio lighting elements. It can be used alongside projectors for trees or shrubs, or as a complement to facade lighting, providing the lowest level of light and defining the outline of the space.

Questions and answers

Does the GRUND withstand the weight of people walking on it?

Yes. The design of this recessed light is prepared for pedestrian transit areas. The aluminium body and glass diffuser withstand regular foot traffic without the structure deforming or the glass breaking under normal use.

Does it work with any standard domestic electrical installation?

Not directly. This spotlight operates at 24VDC, which means it requires an external transformer or driver to convert the mains voltage. This component must be planned into the installation prior to mounting.

Does the IP67 protection make it suitable for installation in areas where rainwater accumulates?

The IP67 rating guarantees protection against temporary immersion in water. In areas where water may occasionally accumulate, such as a garden or a terrace without rapid drainage, the spotlight withstands that exposure without moisture penetrating the interior.
