Overview

The GRUND by FARO is an outdoor recessed fixture designed to be embedded directly into the ground. Its primary function is signage lighting: it marks pathways, defines transit areas, and makes access safer when night falls. It is a discreet solution that does not visually interrupt the space, yet performs its function with precision.

This spotlight fits well in garden entrances, terrace edges, outdoor corridors, or areas near the façade. Since it sits flush with the ground, it does not protrude or interfere with foot traffic. The transparent glass allows light to pass through without distortion, and the satin aluminium finish holds up well over time.

FARO is a brand with experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Their products combine functionality with careful design, built to last under real-world conditions.

Installation and specifications

For installation, it is necessary to prepare a recess in the ground to house the body of the fixture to the indicated depth. Before securing the spotlight, make sure the wiring is properly installed and that the power supply is suitable for the equipment's voltage. The connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially in outdoor installations where humidity and weather exposure require greater caution. Check that the surface where it is installed is stable and can support the usual foot traffic load.

To keep the recessed fixture in good condition, clean the glass and aluminium body with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the finish. Periodically check that there is no accumulation of dirt or debris on the diffuser, as this can affect light distribution. Do not handle the spotlight while it is on or connected to the mains.

Design and use

The GRUND is a recessed fixture designed to work quietly. It does not draw attention to itself, but rather makes visible what matters: the path, the edge of the floor, the access to a door. In a well-designed garden, ground lighting is what allows you to enjoy the outdoor space when natural light is gone.

The spotlight body is made of stainless steel with an exterior finish in satin aluminium. This combination offers resistance to rain, cold, and temperature changes that are common in any outdoor installation. Aluminium does not oxidise easily and maintains its appearance with minimal upkeep. It is the type of material that performs well on a terrace with frequent rain or in a patio exposed to sun for months at a time.

The transparent glass diffuser allows light to pass through without filtering or colouring it. The illumination it produces is clean and direct, which is useful in areas where signage needs to be clear. On the edge of an outdoor staircase or at the boundary of a transit area, that type of light performs its function without creating visual confusion.

Compatibility with a GU10 LED bulb allows you to choose the colour temperature and intensity level according to the needs of the space. A warmer light may integrate better in a garden with a relaxed atmosphere, while a neutral temperature works well in functional access areas or on a building façade. The bulb is not included, giving you the freedom to adjust that choice based on the intended use.

With a diameter of 92 mm and a depth of 85 mm, the GRUND takes up little space and integrates easily into different types of paving: stone slabs, outdoor tiles, decking, or concrete floors. The compact size also makes installation easier in areas where the space beneath the floor is limited.

In a garden, these spotlights can be placed along a path to guide the way from the entrance to the house. On a terrace, they serve to define the edges or mark the steps. On the façade or at the entrance to a garage, they enhance visibility without the need for larger luminaires. The interior courtyard of a home is another context where this recessed fixture fits well, especially when a tidy aesthetic with no protruding elements is desired.

The universal voltage of 100V to 240V makes it compatible with electrical installations in different countries, which is useful both for residential projects and for those purchasing the product outside their usual market.

Questions and answers

Can the GRUND be installed on surfaces where people regularly walk?

Yes. It is designed to be mounted in the ground and to withstand the conditions of an outdoor transit area. Its stainless steel body and satin aluminium finish are built to resist continuous use and weather exposure.

What type of bulb does this recessed fixture require and what is its maximum consumption?

It uses a GU10 LED base bulb with a maximum power of 5 W. The bulb is not included, so it must be purchased separately before installation.

Is the GRUND's voltage compatible with standard electrical installations in Spain?

Yes. The voltage range is 100V to 240V, making it compatible with the standard electrical installation in Spain and in most European countries.
