Overview

A recessed floor spotlight designed for outdoor use: gardens, terraces, patios, and walkways along facades. It is installed flush with the floor, with no protruding elements, and provides direct upward lighting that defines paths, borders flower beds, or marks the boundary between different areas of the garden.

What makes this luminaire useful is the combination of protection and discretion. The IP67 rating ensures that neither heavy rain nor dirt will affect its performance. In addition, the integrated honeycomb panel reduces glare, which is important when the spotlight sits at floor level and in the direct line of sight.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Its products are designed with durable installations in mind, using materials that withstand continuous exposure to weather and everyday use.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this recessed floor fitting, it is necessary to prepare a junction box in the floor with the appropriate dimensions to accommodate the luminaire body. The wiring must run through a buried protective conduit. Since the spotlight supports a rolled load of up to 1000 kg, care should be taken to ensure that the fill around the box is well compacted to prevent movement. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician, as this is a mains-connected outdoor recessed fitting.

The aluminium and stainless steel body requires no frequent maintenance, but it is advisable to clean the diffuser glass occasionally with a soft damp cloth to keep light transmission in good condition. Do not use abrasive products or solvents on the anodised surface. Periodically check that the frame does not accumulate compacted dirt that could make it difficult to open when changing the light source.

Design and use

The recessed fitting integrates into the floor without interfering with the design of the outdoor space. Its square format of 92 mm and low profile of 120 mm makes it suitable for installation in stone, concrete, technical wood, or composite paving. In a garden, it can be placed along the outline of a path to create a luminous route guiding towards the entrance or to different areas of the grounds. On a terrace, it works well delimiting the edge or marking access steps.

The body combines aluminium with 316L stainless steel, a material particularly resistant to corrosion, even in high-humidity environments or near the sea. The anodised black finish remains stable over time and requires no repainting. The transparent glass diffuser allows light to exit without distortion, and the integrated honeycomb panel prevents the direct beam from being bothersome when viewed from certain angles.

The light source is a 13W COB LED with a colour temperature of 3000K, a warm tone that blends well in garden or patio settings without creating the cold feeling that more basic outdoor spotlights sometimes produce. Warm light enhances the perception of the green of vegetation and adds warmth to paving materials such as stone or wood.

The IP67 rating means the spotlight is prepared to be completely submerged in water for a limited time, which in practice means that rain, garden irrigation, or accumulated water pose no risk. The IK08 impact resistance adds a layer of mechanical protection that is relevant when the spotlight is installed in areas of frequent foot traffic or where objects may fall.

The fact that it supports a rolled load of up to 1000 kg broadens the installation possibilities. It can be placed in vehicle entrances, garage access paths, or service areas of the garden without normal car traffic affecting the luminaire. This sets it apart from other outdoor recessed fittings designed exclusively for pedestrian areas.

Combined with other spotlights from the same line, it allows for a coherent floor lighting scheme along the entire facade or garden perimeter. It also works as a spot element to highlight a specific area of the terrace or patio without the need to install lanterns or wall lights.

Questions and answers

Does this recessed fitting support the weight of a vehicle passing over it?

Yes. The luminaire supports a rolled load of up to 1000 kg, allowing it to be installed in vehicle access areas or garage entrances without risk of damage from the normal weight of a car.

What does an IP67 rating mean and how does it affect outdoor use?

The IP67 rating indicates that the spotlight is protected against dust ingress and can withstand temporary immersion in water. In practice, this means that rain, irrigation, or water accumulated on the floor will not damage the luminaire or its performance.

Is the COB LED light source included with the product?

No, the light source is not included. It must be purchased separately. The luminaire is designed for a 13W COB LED light source with a colour temperature of 3000K.
