Overview

The FARO recessed floor luminaire is designed for those who want to illuminate a garden, terrace, or patio without the installation being visible. It is mounted at floor level, integrated into the pavement, and offers warm light that defines pathways and separates areas without visually intruding on the space.

It is an outdoor spotlight with IP67 certification, meaning it withstands direct rain and the entry of dust or dirt. It also has an IK08 impact resistance rating and allows wheeled traffic of up to 1000 kg, so there is no problem if there is foot traffic or even light vehicles passing over it.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Their products combine durable materials with functional design that adapts to residential and renovation projects.

Installation and specifications

To install this recessed floor fitting, a junction box with the appropriate dimensions must be prepared in the pavement. It is important to verify that the recess has proper drainage to prevent water accumulation beneath the spotlight. The wiring must run through a protected corrugated conduit and be connected by a qualified electrician, as this is a mains-voltage outdoor installation. The COB LED light source is not included and must be purchased separately before commissioning.

The anodized black stainless steel and aluminum body does not require special maintenance, but it is advisable to clean the diffuser glass with a soft cloth and water when dirt or rain residue accumulates. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the surface. Since the spotlight sits at floor level, it is recommended to periodically check that no objects are obstructing the glass or the light output.

Design and use

This recessed floor spotlight is made from 316L stainless steel and aluminum, materials that hold up well under continuous outdoor exposure. The anodized black finish gives it a discreet appearance that integrates seamlessly into dark or neutral pavements, whether in a garden, terrace, or patio. The transparent glass diffuser protects the light source without altering the tone of the illumination.

With 7 W of power and COB LED technology, this recessed fitting delivers concentrated, uniform light that reaches the ground and the edges of the pathway effectively. The 2700 K color temperature produces a warm white, similar to traditional incandescent light, which is pleasant in outdoor spaces at night. It does not generate the cold or clinical feeling that some LED lamps with a higher color temperature produce.

Its compact dimensions, 80 mm in diameter and 90 mm in height, allow it to be installed in areas where the pavement thickness is limited. It is a small luminaire that does not break the continuity of the floor and, thanks to its finish, goes unnoticed during the day. At night, the spotlight does its job without drawing attention to itself: what you see is the illuminated pathway, not the lamp.

The IP67 protection level makes it suitable for outdoor areas with frequent rain, including coastal areas or humid climates. The IK08 resistance and the ability to support loads of up to 1000 kg make it a valid option for installations in high-traffic areas, such as access paths, outdoor stairs, or terrace edges that are regularly walked on.

In a garden, this type of luminaire is commonly used to mark the edge of a path, illuminate steps, or create a visual separation between the lawn area and the pavement. On a façade, installed at the base of the wall, it can project light upward and highlight the textures or materials of the construction. On a terrace or outdoor floor, it integrates into the pavement and defines the limits of the space without the need for posts or protruding elements.

It combines well with other recessed spotlights in the same black finish to create a continuous line of lighting. It can also accompany higher ambient lighting, such as wall sconces or garden projectors, and act as low-level lighting that complements that general light.

Questions and answers

Can this recessed fitting be installed in an area where light vehicles circulate?

Yes. This spotlight is designed to withstand wheeled traffic of up to 1000 kg, making it suitable for transit areas with light vehicles or garden machinery. It is not recommended for heavier vehicles.

What does IP67 certification mean and why is it relevant for an outdoor installation?

The IP67 rating indicates that the spotlight is completely protected against dust and can withstand temporary immersion in water. This is important in floor installations in gardens or terraces, where rainwater can accumulate and the pavement may occasionally flood.

Does the 316L stainless steel body offer any advantage over other materials in outdoor settings?

316L stainless steel has greater corrosion resistance than standard stainless steel, especially in environments with humidity, salinity, or contact with cleaning products. It is a suitable option for installations in coastal outdoor settings or those with frequent exposure to water.
