Overview

This recessed floor spotlight from the brand FARO is designed to illuminate paths, entrances, and passageways outdoors. It is installed flush with the ground and directs light upward, marking the route without interfering with the space. It is a discreet solution for gardens, terraces, patios, and facades where visual order is to be maintained without adding elements that stand out excessively.

The spotlight operates with 2W SMD LED technology and emits warm light at 3000K, creating a pleasant atmosphere at night without being harsh. Being recessed into the ground, it takes up no space, does not obstruct passage, and is barely noticeable during the day. The transparent glass diffuser protects the light source without distorting the beam.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in indoor and outdoor lighting. Their products are designed to last and to integrate well into different types of environments, from residential projects to more demanding spaces.

Installation and specifications

For installation, it is necessary to prepare a recessed box suited to the size of the spotlight before placing it in the ground. The wiring must be protected and run through a conduit suitable for outdoor use. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially when working with concrete, stone, or paved floors. It is important to ensure that the mounting surface is firm and stable before embedding the fixture.

To keep the spotlight in good condition, simply clean the glass occasionally with a damp cloth. Abrasive products or solvents should not be used on the anodized black finish. Although the IP67 rating protects it against water and dirt, it is advisable to check the gasket and perimeter seal over time to ensure no moisture has entered the interior.

Design and use

The FARO recessed floor spotlight has a very low profile: 37 mm in diameter and 90 mm in height. These dimensions allow it to be installed in spaces where a larger spotlight would not fit, such as narrow steps, path edges, or areas with little clearance between floor level and the lower layers of the pavement.

The body combines stainless steel 316L with aluminium. Stainless steel 316L is particularly resistant to corrosion, even in environments with constant humidity or near the sea. The aluminium lightens the assembly without reducing its solidity. The anodized black finish is not limited to aesthetics: it forms a layer that protects the metal against oxidation and the temperature changes typical of outdoor environments.

The IP67 certification indicates that this recessed fixture can withstand water immersion of up to one metre for thirty minutes, and is also completely dustproof. In practical terms, it means it can remain under accumulated rainwater or be installed in areas where irrigation directly reaches the surface. This makes it suitable for gardens with automatic irrigation systems or for terraces in areas with frequent rainfall.

The IK08 impact resistance rating certifies that the body can withstand impacts of a certain intensity without deforming or breaking. And the capacity to support a rolling load of up to 1000 kg means it can be installed in access areas where light vehicles pass, such as driveways to a home or manoeuvring areas in a private courtyard.

The transparent glass diffuser allows light to pass through without altering it. The 3000K colour temperature produces a warm tone, similar to traditional incandescent light. This type of lighting integrates well in gardens with vegetation, on stone or brick facades, and on terraces with wooden furniture or natural materials. It does not generate a cold contrast that would break the night-time ambience.

This recessed spotlight works well installed in series along a path or outdoor staircase, marking the route in an orderly manner. It can also be used to define areas in a courtyard or to mark the edges of a terrace. Being recessed into the floor, it adds no visual elements at height and the space maintains a clean appearance during the day. The included LED lamp does not need to be replaced frequently, which reduces maintenance over time.

Questions and answers

Can this recessed floor spotlight be installed in access areas where cars drive through?

Yes. The spotlight supports a rolling load of up to 1000 kg, allowing it to be installed in garage entrances or paths where light vehicles pass without risk of deformation.

Does the IP67 rating make it suitable for areas with direct automatic irrigation?

Yes. IP67 guarantees complete dustproofing and protection against temporary water immersion. The spotlight can receive water from the irrigation system without affecting its operation.

Does the 316L stainless steel body offer any advantage over other materials in coastal outdoor environments?

Stainless steel 316L has greater resistance to corrosion from salt and marine humidity compared to other types of steel. It is a good option for installations in gardens or patios close to the sea.
