Overview

The FARO garden beacon is an outdoor lamp designed to be installed on walls and surfaces. Its main function is to create decorative lighting points in outdoor spaces: garden, terrace, patio or home entrance. The circular beam of light projected by the opal diffuser creates a clean, uniform visual effect on the nearby surface, without harsh shadow areas or concentrated light spots.

This lamp incorporates SMD LED technology, meaning low energy consumption and a long service life without needing to replace the light source. The body is made of injection-moulded aluminium with a dark grey finish, a material that withstands outdoor conditions well. The diffuser is made of opal polycarbonate, which distributes light evenly.

FARO is a company with a long track record in lighting, headquartered in Spain. Its catalogue covers both indoor and outdoor products, and its items combine contemporary design with solid manufacturing.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This lamp is fixed directly onto a wall, so it is necessary to have an in-wall electrical box or surface cable access. Before installing it, check that the wall can support the weight of the unit. Since this is an outdoor luminaire, the wiring must be properly protected against moisture. If you have no experience with electrical installations, it is advisable to seek the help of an electrician. The lamp operates within a voltage range of 100V to 240V, compatible with the standard electrical grid.

Use and maintenance. To clean the aluminium body, use a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. The polycarbonate diffuser can be cleaned with water and mild soap. Do not direct jets of water directly onto the lamp. Periodically check that the connections and sealing are in good condition.

Design and use

This beacon from the FARO brand combines contemporary design with materials intended to withstand outdoor use. The injection-moulded aluminium body is lightweight and durable, and the dark grey finish integrates effortlessly into modern façades, stone walls or whitewashed surfaces. It does not stand out excessively during the day, but fulfils its visual role once night falls.

The 3000K SMD LED light source emits a warm tone, close to candlelight, which is pleasant in relaxation spaces. That colour temperature makes the garden or terrace look welcoming at dusk, without the coldness of white light. The opal polycarbonate diffuser distributes light in all directions softly, projecting that characteristic circular beam onto the nearby wall and ground.

At 6W, this lamp is not designed to illuminate large surfaces, but rather to create atmosphere and mark routes or specific points outdoors. It is common to combine it with other beacons installed at different points in the garden, along a path or on the sides of a door. On a terrace, it can be placed at a mid height on the wall to light the seating area without causing glare.

A post is not the only way to think about outdoor lighting. This wall-mounted lamp is a direct alternative when there is no space to install a post or when the garden design does not call for one. It is also an option when you want to avoid running cabling through the ground. Mounted on the wall, the lantern is out of reach and does not interfere with pedestrian traffic.

The lantern has compact dimensions: 250 mm high, 145 mm long and 145 mm deep. This makes it suitable for narrow walls or spaces where a larger lamp would look out of proportion. Its weight of 1.45 kg allows it to be fixed without special anchors on most common surfaces.

In terms of combinations, this lamp works well alongside other pieces of contemporary design. A similarly designed lantern at the entrance, combined with ground beacons along the path, creates a coherent lighting composition. The dark grey aluminium also pairs well with materials such as treated wood, exposed concrete or corten metal.

The light source is included, so it does not need to be purchased separately. The 100V–240V voltage range makes it compatible in different countries without the need for adapters.

Questions and answers

Does the lamp include the LED light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 6W 3000K SMD LED light source is already included. It does not need to be purchased separately or require any compatibility checks.

Does the opal polycarbonate diffuser hold up well under continuous outdoor use?

Polycarbonate is a common material in outdoor luminaires due to its impact resistance and stability against temperature changes. The opal finish also helps prevent surface dirt from being easily noticed.

What type of mounting does this beacon use and where is the wiring connected?

The lamp is installed as a wall-mounted unit. The wiring connects directly from the in-wall electrical box, without the need for additional structures such as a post or pedestal.
