Overview

The SCREEN lamp by FARO is a surface-mounted luminaire designed for outdoor installation. It is fixed directly onto the wall and offers an asymmetric light distribution of 180 degrees, making it especially useful for illuminating facades, entrances, gardens, or terraces without leaving any areas in shadow.

The body is made of aluminum and polycarbonate, with a dark grey finish. This combination of materials provides resistance against impacts and rain. The IP65 certification guarantees that neither water nor dirt affects the internal functioning of the lamp. The IK10 rating indicates that the fixture can withstand physical impacts without deteriorating.

The fixture includes COB LED technology with a color temperature of 4000K, which produces a neutral white light. It is comfortable for illuminating large surfaces without creating an atmosphere that is too cold or too warm. In addition, this version is compatible with the CASAMBI system, which allows lighting to be controlled wirelessly from an application.

FARO is a Spanish brand specializing in lighting. It has been developing products for both indoor and outdoor use for decades, with attention to technical design and durability under real conditions of use.

Installation and specifications

For installation, an electrical connection point on the wall is required, as the fixture is mounted directly onto the wall. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially outdoors where cables must be properly protected. Before mounting the lamp, check that the surface is solid and that the anchors are securely fixed. The fixture operates at 220V-240V, standard on the domestic grid.

To clean the lamp, use a dry or slightly damp cloth on the aluminum body and the PC diffuser. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the finishes. Although the fixture has IP65 protection, it is not advisable to direct jets of water directly onto it during cleaning. Periodically check the condition of the sealing and fixing points, especially after periods of heavy rain or wind.

Design and use

The SCREEN fixture belongs to a collection of technical lighting oriented towards outdoor use. Its design is clean and functional, with no decorative elements to distract. This makes it compatible with very different environments: from a contemporary facade to a more austere-style garden, as well as courtyard entrances or outdoor staircases.

The aluminum body provides rigidity without adding excessive weight. It is a material that performs well outdoors because it does not rust with humidity and withstands temperature variations without deforming. The transparent polycarbonate diffuser allows light to emerge directly, illuminating the surface in front of the fixture without unnecessary losses. The 180-degree optics distribute that light asymmetrically, which means you can orient the fixture to concentrate the beam exactly where you need it: over a garden path, a wall, an entrance, or a terrace area.

The 4000K temperature places this lamp in the neutral range. It does not reach the cold white of industrial spaces, but it also does not have the warmth of domestic living room lighting. It is a temperature that works well when clear visibility is desired without altering the outdoor nighttime atmosphere too much. In a garden, for example, it allows paths and plants to be clearly distinguished without creating an aggressive contrast with the dark surroundings. On a terrace, it provides enough light to use it comfortably at night.

The CASAMBI version is one of the most practical aspects of this fixture. CASAMBI is a wireless control system that works via Bluetooth and does not require a gateway or complex additional installation. From an application on the phone, the intensity of the lamp can be adjusted, schedules programmed, or multiple lights grouped together to control them jointly. This is especially useful when several fixtures are installed in a garden or along a path, as it allows all outdoor lighting to be managed from a single point without the need for physical sensors or additional installations.

The dark grey finish of the body integrates well with facades in neutral colors, stone or concrete pavements, and aluminum or iron joinery. It is not a fixture that seeks to stand out visually, but rather accompanies the environment without interfering. In spaces where lighting must fulfill a clear function, that discretion is an advantage.

The dimensions of the fixture, 250 mm in height and 160 mm on each side, place it in a compact size. It does not take up too much space on the wall and can be installed on walls where there would be no room for a larger fixture. This broadens its range of uses: it can be placed on entrance columns, on narrow courtyard walls, or in areas where the available space is limited.

Questions and answers

What does it mean that this fixture has IP65 protection?

The IP65 rating indicates that the fixture is completely protected against dust and against water jets from any direction. It is suitable for outdoor installation without the need for additional protection against rain.

Does the asymmetric 180-degree lighting option allow the beam to be directed towards a specific area?

Yes. The asymmetric 180-degree distribution concentrates the light towards the front of the fixture, allowing it to be directed onto a specific surface, such as a garden path, a staircase, or a wall, rather than dispersing it in all directions.

Does the CASAMBI system require installing any additional device to work?

No. CASAMBI works via Bluetooth and is managed directly from an application on the phone. It does not need a gateway or external controller to operate in a basic way.
