Overview

The SAIGON pendant lamp by FARO is designed for outdoor installation. It mounts to the ceiling and hangs downward with a conical shade in opaque white, which distributes light in a contained manner without excessive dispersion. It is a clear option for those looking for outdoor lighting with a clean and recognizable shape.

The SAIGON collection stems from a simple idea: unadorned lines, solid materials, and a visual presence that does not overwhelm the space. The R17 shade in opaque white contrasts softly with the dark grey aluminium body. There is no need to look for complicated combinations — the lamp works well on its own or alongside other pieces from the same collection.

FARO is a company with a long track record in the lighting sector. Its products combine functionality and design without falling into excess, something that can be noticed in every piece of the SAIGON range.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the pendant lamp, make sure the outdoor ceiling point is secure and prepared to support the weight of the assembly. Cut the power before any electrical handling. If you do not have experience with outdoor electrical installations, it is most advisable to have an electrician do it. Verify that the wiring available at the ceiling is compatible with the voltage indicated on the technical sheet (100V–240V). Observe the minimum safety distances from flammable materials.

For care of the aluminium body, a slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey finish. Periodically check the condition of the cable and the ceiling fixing points, especially in areas with frequent rain or wind. Do not exceed the indicated maximum power of 15 W when changing the bulb.

Design and use

The SAIGON pendant lamp by FARO is a suspension luminaire designed for outdoor use. Its body is made of aluminium with a dark grey finish, a material that withstands exposure to typical outdoor conditions well without losing its appearance over time. The conical shade in opaque white softens the light output and prevents direct glare, making it especially comfortable in areas where people spend time seated.

With a height of 520 mm and a diameter of 180 mm, it is not a small piece, but it does not look heavy either. It hangs with presence without imposing itself. It is the type of lamp that fits on a terrace or porch without needing to reorganize everything around it.

In a garden, a pendant like this can mark the center of an outdoor dining area. The downward-facing shade concentrates light on the table, leaving the surroundings with a more diffuse brightness. On an enclosed or semi-open porch, the conical shape provides a point of visual order without feeling cold or too modern for spaces with natural materials.

For a rooftop terrace, the SAIGON pendant lamp offers a recognizable silhouette even during the day. The dark grey of the body complements both metal structures and wood or cement finishes. It does not clash with the neutral tones that dominate many current outdoor spaces, and it does not get lost either if the surroundings have more colour.

It is a pendant that works equally well in spaces with a more rustic style as in contemporary settings. The cone shape has something classic about it, but the materials and finish place it clearly within a current aesthetic. That ambiguity is precisely what makes it adaptable.

In an interior courtyard, the combination of aluminium and opaque white creates a bright atmosphere without resorting to overly powerful lights. The lamp accepts an E27 LED bulb up to 15 W, which allows for warm or neutral light depending on the bulb chosen. Lights in passageways, such as entrances or galleries, appreciate that kind of control over tone.

If more than one unit is to be installed, the SAIGON collection allows different models to be combined while maintaining visual coherence. Two or three pendants at different heights over a pergola or along a porch create an orderly and balanced effect. Sunlight has little bearing on this type of installation, but the orientation of the space is worth taking into account when deciding the hanging height.

Questions and answers

Does the SAIGON lamp include the E27 LED bulb at the time of purchase?

No. The lamp does not include a light source. It is necessary to purchase separately an E27 LED bulb of up to 15 W for it to operate.

Is the dark grey aluminium body treated to withstand outdoor weather conditions?

Aluminium is a material that resists exposure to the outdoor environment well. Even so, it is recommended to periodically check the condition of the finish and clean the surface with a damp cloth to maintain its appearance.

How much does the lamp weigh and what should I keep in mind when fixing it to the ceiling?

The net weight of the lamp is 1.67 kg. It is important that the fixing point on the outdoor ceiling is solid and designed to support that weight. If there are any doubts about the strength of the support, it is advisable to consult a professional before installation.
