Overview

The SAIGON OUT S C100 lamp by FARO is a pendant luminaire designed for outdoor spaces. It is installed directly on the ceiling using a fixed anchor, without the need for tension cables, making it more stable against adverse weather conditions such as wind or rain. It is a suitable option for a terrace, a covered porch, or any outdoor area that requires permanent and safe lighting.

The aluminum body with a dark grey finish gives it a solid presence. The opal diffuser distributes light evenly, without bright spots or shadowed areas. This is a pendant lamp that balances functionality and aesthetics without sacrificing either.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting. Their outdoor products combine resistant materials with designs that adapt well to different environments, from contemporary gardens to more understated spaces.

Installation and specifications

For installation, an electrical junction box on the ceiling prepared for outdoor use is required. As this is a pendant lamp with a fixed anchor, the attachment point must be properly leveled to avoid misalignment in the drop of the luminaire. If the ceiling is made of wood or porous material, it is advisable to use expansion plugs suitable for the substrate. Electrical connections must always be carried out by a qualified installer, especially in humid or rain-exposed environments. Make sure that the outdoor wiring complies with local regulations before proceeding.

For maintenance, clean the body surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the dark grey aluminum finish. The PEMD diffuser can be cleaned with warm water and a soft cloth. Do not submerge any part of the lamp in water. Periodically check the anchors to make sure they have not lost tension over time or after intense weather conditions.

Design and use

The SAIGON OUT S C100 is a pendant lamp designed for outdoor spaces that require stable, attractive lighting. With a diameter of 1050 mm, it covers a generous area of light, making it a good choice for large spaces such as a garden with a seating area, a covered terrace, or an entrance porch.

The dark grey aluminum body is durable and maintains its finish well over time. Aluminum does not oxidize easily and withstands ambient humidity, temperature variations, and continuous outdoor exposure without issue. This robustness is one of the luminaire's strong points: it is not a fragile decorative lamp, but a piece built to last under real conditions.

The PEMD diffuser with an opal finish softens the light output. Instead of a direct, harsh spotlight, the illumination it produces is diffuse and enveloping. This is especially useful in areas where time is spent: an outdoor dinner in the courtyard, an afternoon of reading on the porch, or a gathering on the terrace all benefit from light that does not dazzle and allows good visibility without causing discomfort.

The fixed ceiling anchor system, without tension cables, is an important detail. Pendant lamps with free-hanging cables sway in the wind and can become misaligned or strain at the connection points. This lamp avoids that problem with a direct, rigid attachment, more suitable for outdoor spaces where conditions are not always predictable.

In terms of aesthetics, the dark grey of the body works well with different styles. It fits in a modern garden with neat vegetation, but can also look good in a more informal or rustic space, where natural materials and earthy tones take center stage. The neutral-toned light from the opal diffuser does not alter the color perception of the surroundings, which helps both plants and paving materials retain their natural appearance.

It is compatible with an E27 LED bulb, which is not included. This allows you to choose the color temperature and brightness level according to the specific needs of the space. A warm bulb creates a more welcoming atmosphere for a domestic terrace; a more neutral light may be useful if functional visibility is needed in an entrance porch or a working pergola.

With a net weight of 1.67 kg, it does not require a particularly reinforced support structure, although it is always advisable to verify the capacity of the ceiling box before installation. Its height of 455 mm makes it discreet on standard outdoor ceilings, without interfering with the circulation space below.

Questions and answers

Is it necessary to use tension cables or additional wires to hang this lamp from the ceiling?
