Overview

The SAIGON pendant lamp by FARO is a luminaire designed for outdoor use. It is ceiling-mounted and works well in spaces such as a terrace, porch, or garden where clean lighting is sought without elements that distract the eye. The design comes from the Nahtrang collection, which works with pure forms and restrained silhouettes.

What sets this lamp apart is the T70 cone cap shade in brown, made from textilene. This material withstands temperature changes well, making it suitable for year-round outdoor use. The structure is made of aluminium with a dark grey finish, and the diffuser is opal. The overall look is sober and holds up well in outdoor conditions without losing presence.

FARO is a company with a long history in lighting. It designs and manufactures luminaires for both indoor and outdoor use, with attention to constructive detail and material durability.

Installation and specifications

Before installing this pendant lamp, check that the ceiling anchor point has sufficient capacity to support the weight of the assembly. Fixing must be carried out on a firm surface, whether concrete, structural wood, or metal profile. Since this is an outdoor luminaire, it is important that the wiring is protected and suitable for outdoor use. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a qualified electrician, especially in areas exposed to rain or humidity. Before connecting the lamp, make sure to cut the power supply from the main panel.

For maintenance, clean the textilene shade with a damp cloth and water, without abrasive products. The aluminium body can be cleaned in the same way. Avoid the use of solvents or products that may alter the finish. If the lamp is installed in a highly exposed area, check the condition of the wiring and seals from time to time. Do not handle the bulb while the lamp is on or immediately after turning it off, as it may be hot.

Design and use

The SAIGON pendant lamp is part of a collection designed for those who want outdoor lighting without sacrificing a refined appearance. The body is made of aluminium with a dark grey finish, a neutral tone that integrates well both in modern façades and in more natural settings, such as a garden or a patio with vegetation. It does not draw attention on its own, but it does not go unnoticed either: it has presence without being showy.

The T70 cone cap shade in brown is the element that defines the character of this lamp. It is made of textilene, a material that combines durability and a textile appearance. Unlike other synthetic materials, textilene retains its shape and colour over time even in outdoor conditions. This makes it especially useful in areas where temperatures vary greatly between seasons, or where the lamp is exposed to direct sunlight for hours.

The opal diffuser distributes light evenly downward, without excessive bright spots. This is useful in spaces where people spend time seated, such as a terrace with a table or an entrance porch, as it prevents direct glare. The resulting light is soft and covers the area beneath the lamp well.

With a length of 670 mm and a depth of 670 mm, and a total height of 680 mm, the lamp has a generous size. It is suitable for outdoor spaces with sufficient ceiling height, such as pergolas, covered galleries, or large porches. In smaller spaces, it is advisable to check the dimensions before installing it to ensure it fits well with the surroundings.

The E27 socket is one of the most common, making it easy to find a compatible LED bulb without any difficulty. The lamp does not include the bulb, so it must be purchased separately. The maximum power is 15 W, sufficient to illuminate a regularly used outdoor space such as a patio or a medium-sized garden. The voltage is compatible with the standard electrical grid in Spain and most of Europe.

From an aesthetic point of view, the contrast between the dark grey of the aluminium and the warm brown of the shade produces a balanced result. It is not a rustic lamp in the classic sense, but it does not fit exclusively in modern settings either. It works in mixed contexts: a contemporary façade, a garden with wooden elements, a porch with a stone floor. It is the type of piece that does not impose a specific style but rather adapts to what already exists.

It can also work well in multiple installations. Placing two or more pendant lamps from this collection along a pergola or gallery creates a uniform line of lights without overwhelming the space. The restrained design of the SAIGON collection allows it to be repeated without becoming excessive.

Questions and answers

Does the textilene material of the shade deteriorate with direct sun exposure?

Textilene is manufactured to withstand outdoor exposure, including temperature changes and sunlight. This is one of the reasons it is used in outdoor luminaires such as this one.

Does the pendant lamp include the E27 bulb or does it need to be purchased separately?

The bulb is not included. It must be purchased separately. The socket is a standard E27, compatible with most LED bulbs available in any store.

Does the weight of 1.67 kg require any special type of ceiling anchor?

It is not an excessive weight, but the fixing point must be on a firm and structurally secure surface. It is recommended that installation be carried out by a professional to ensure the anchor is adequate.
