Overview

NARA is an outdoor pendant lamp designed for spaces where rain, dust, and temperature changes are part of everyday life. Thanks to its IP65 rating, it can be installed directly on the ceiling of a terrace, porch, or gallery without needing to find a sheltered spot. The matte black steel structure gives it solidity without adding visual weight, and the opal diffuser distributes light softly, without excessive bright spots.

For those looking for outdoor lighting that works with different styles, this luminaire functions equally well in a garden with modern lines as in a courtyard with a more rustic atmosphere. The matte black finish will not clash in a contemporary setting or in one with more classic or vintage details.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting design. Its outdoor products are designed to withstand real use, not just to look good in a photo.

Installation and specifications

To install this pendant lamp, you need an anchor point on the ceiling capable of supporting the weight of the assembly. Before starting, make sure to cut the power at the electrical panel. The fixing is done directly to the ceiling, so it is worth verifying that the surface is firm and suitable for the type of anchor you use. If you have any doubts about the wiring or installation, it is most advisable to consult an electrician.

The PEMD diffuser and steel body can be cleaned with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte black finish. Although the IP65 rating provides protection against water and dust, it is worth periodically checking that the seals and wiring are in good condition, especially after winter.

Design and use

The NARA lamp has a diameter of 460 mm, which makes it a piece with real presence without being excessive. Hung from the ceiling of a porch or covered terrace, it occupies its space naturally. The matte black steel body is clean and unadorned, which makes it fit in both environments with modern lines and spaces with a more rustic or industrial character.

The PEMD opal diffuser is one of the elements that most influences how light is perceived in the environment. This material distributes the illumination evenly, preventing the bulb from being visible and avoiding harsh shadows. The result is an enveloping light that covers the area beneath the lamp well without creating very dark zones at the edges. For a garden or patio where you want to spend time at night, that makes a difference.

Compatibility with E27 LED bulbs of up to 12 W is a practical point. LED lights with this cap are easy to find, have good energy efficiency, and last a long time. Since the bulb is not included, you can choose the color temperature that best suits the atmosphere you are looking for: a warmer light for a cozy patio, or a more neutral one if you prefer something more functional.

The voltage range between 100V and 240V means this lamp works without adapters in different countries, which can be useful if the installation project involves equipment with different specifications.

As for the spaces where it fits best, the NARA lamp is a clear option for covered outdoor areas: entrance porches, terraces with a roof, covered pergolas, or glazed galleries. It also works well in transitional spaces between indoors and outdoors, such as a covered entrance or a large balcony with a roof. In all these cases, the IP65 rating ensures that neither splashing rainwater nor accumulated dust will affect its operation.

For those with a garden that has a covered rest area, hanging this luminaire above the table or seating area is a simple way to extend summer evenings. The matte black integrates well with materials such as wood, concrete, iron, or ceramic, which commonly appear in contemporary or rustic-style outdoor spaces.

Indoors, although it is designed for outdoor use, it could be used in spaces such as a basement, garage, or cellar where robustness and protection against humidity are valued.

Questions and answers

Does the IP65 rating mean this pendant lamp can be installed in a fully exposed outdoor area in the rain?

IP65 indicates that the lamp is protected against water jets from any direction and against dust. It can be used outdoors, but it is recommended to install it in areas with some type of overhead protection, such as a covered terrace or porch, to extend its service life.

Does the PEMD diffuser affect the amount of light emitted by the bulb?

The PEMD opal diffuser disperses the light and softens its distribution, which may slightly reduce the perceived intensity. In return, it eliminates direct glare and produces more uniform illumination across the area of use.

Does the weight of 1.67 kg require any special ceiling anchor?

It is not an excessive weight, but it is worth making sure that the fixing point on the ceiling is firm and properly anchored. On masonry ceilings this is usually not a problem; on lightweight or wooden ceilings it is advisable to use anchors appropriate for the material.
