Overview

MOON is an outdoor pendant lamp designed to illuminate entrances, porches, terraces, and open-air areas where something more than functional lighting is sought. Its clean silhouette fits well in both contemporary settings and facades with a more classic or rustic style, without forcing the overall look.

The housing is made of aluminum with a dark grey finish, a material that holds up well in outdoor conditions without losing its appearance. The diffuser is made of opal PMMA, which distributes light softly and evenly. There are no bright spots or dark areas: the light comes out filtered, enveloping the space without causing glare.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in lighting, both indoor and outdoor. Their products are designed to last and to integrate into real projects, not just catalogues.

Installation and specifications

To install this outdoor ceiling pendant lamp, it is important that the anchor point is prepared to support the weight of the assembly and has a protected electrical outlet for outdoor use. Since the fixture is ceiling-mounted, it is recommended to verify that the surface is solid —concrete, structural wood, or similar— before placing the hook or support. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified professional, especially in outdoor installations where humidity can affect the wiring. No bulb is included: before installing, purchase a compatible E27 LED bulb with the indicated wattage.

To keep the lamp in good condition, clean the aluminum body with a damp cloth and no abrasive products. The PMMA diffuser can be cleaned in the same way. Avoid solvents or aggressive cleaners that could alter the opal finish of the diffuser. Periodically check the condition of the cable and anchor points, especially after periods of rain or strong wind.

Design and use

MOON combines materials commonly used in outdoor lighting —aluminum and opal polycarbonate— with a geometry that does not impose itself. It is a pendant lamp with straight lines and balanced proportions, with a total height of 1590 mm that gives it presence without being excessive in spaces with standard ceiling heights.

The dark grey aluminum body withstands exposure to outdoor conditions without additional treatments. This neutral finish adapts to surfaces of different colors and textures: white facades, stone walls, dark woods. It does not draw attention to itself, but rather accompanies the surroundings.

The opal PMMA diffuser is the element that defines the character of the light. PMMA is a material that disperses light well, preventing the bulb from being visible from the outside. The result is a luminaire with a uniform appearance, without glare. In a garden or on a porch, that makes the difference between lighting that tires and lighting that invites you to stay.

With an E27 socket, it accepts a wide variety of LED bulbs available on the market. The maximum wattage is 15 W, sufficient to create a warm atmosphere in transit or gathering areas. The lamp does not include a bulb, which allows you to choose the color temperature that best suits the space: warm white for more intimate settings, neutral white for entrances or access areas.

In an interior courtyard, this pendant lamp can function as a central light source, creating an atmosphere that invites use of the space at night as well. On a terrace with a roof or pergola, several units aligned generate continuous lighting that defines the area without the need for other lights. On an entrance porch, a single lamp can be enough to offer a welcoming light that is not harsh.

MOON's style is contemporary, but it has enough restraint to not look out of place in settings with a more classic or rustic character. A stone facade, an entrance with old paving, or a garden with dense vegetation are contexts where this pendant lamp fits effortlessly. It does not need a modern environment to make sense.

The pendant cable reaches up to 1590 mm, allowing it to be installed in high ceilings without hanging too high. In spaces with low ceilings, it is worth checking that measurement before installing to ensure the lamp hangs at the right height. The weight of 1.67 kg is manageable for most standard ceiling anchor points.

Outdoor lights have a dual role: they define the space and provide safety. MOON fulfills both functions with a discreet presence that does not distort the perception of the surroundings during the day and that, at night, transforms any outdoor area into a liveable place.

Questions and answers

Does the MOON lamp include an E27 bulb or does it need to be purchased separately?

The bulb is not included. The lamp has an E27 socket and supports a maximum wattage of 15 W. A compatible E27 LED bulb must be purchased before installing it.

How long is the pendant cable and how does that affect installation?

The total height of the pendant lamp is 1590 mm. This includes the cable and the body. Before installing, it is worth measuring the ceiling height to ensure the lamp hangs at a comfortable distance from the floor or the area to be illuminated.

Is the dark grey aluminum finish resistant to the elements in outdoor installations?

Aluminum is a common material in outdoor luminaires due to its resistance to oxidation and temperature changes. The dark grey finish is designed to maintain its appearance under normal outdoor use conditions, such as in a garden, terrace, or porch.
