Overview

A GU10 LED spotlight bulb with a 38° beam. The fairly narrow beam puts the light where the fitting points, which makes it a good choice for picking out a worktop, a picture or a display.

It gives 632 lm of warm white light at 2700K from 7 W. The body is white, so it disappears into white downlights and spot bars.

Installation and specifications

GU10 is a twist-and-lock cap that runs directly on mains voltage, with no transformer. Switch off, push the two pins into the holder and turn clockwise until the bulb locks. The bulb is the standard size: 50 mm across and 54 mm deep.

Design and use

Use it in recessed downlights, track heads and adjustable spots. With a 38° beam, several bulbs in a row give pools of light with some shadow between them; for an even wash across a whole ceiling a wider beam is the better option.

Questions and answers

What does the 38° beam mean in practice?

The light stays concentrated. From a 2.4 m ceiling the bright circle on the floor is roughly 1.6 m wide, so the bulb suits accent and task lighting.

Is it dimmable?

Faro does not list this bulb as dimmable. Fit it on a circuit with an ordinary switch.

How long is it rated for?

Faro gives a rated life of 25,000 hours.
