Overview

The VOLTA floor lamp by FARO is a floor luminaire designed for interiors where light should accompany without imposing itself. It is part of a collection designed by Estudi Ribaudí, with a classic and timeless approach that fits many types of spaces: from a living room with clean-lined furniture to a bedroom where a warm, well-positioned light source is desired.

The lamp stand measures 1510 mm in height, making it a piece with visible presence without taking up floor space. Its matte black finish on a steel body gives it a clean look, free of unnecessary shine. The VOLTA collection pays special attention to detail, and in floor lamps this is evident in the switch: accessible, well integrated into the design, it is not an element that clashes.

FARO is a Spanish brand with experience in interior lighting. Its catalogue combines in-house design and collaborations with recognised design studios, with attention to detail in every product.

Installation and specifications

No special tools or anchors are needed to install this floor lamp. As a floor luminaire, it is simply placed in the desired position, connected to the power outlet and the integrated switch is adjusted. Before switching it on, make sure the E27 socket is clear and in good condition. A bulb is not included, so it is advisable to have an LED bulb compatible with the indicated maximum wattage ready. The universal voltage allows it to be used in any standard domestic installation.

For maintenance, clean the steel body with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that could damage the matte black finish. Do not handle the bulb while the lamp is on or immediately after switching it off. If you need to change the bulb, unplug the luminaire first and wait for it to cool down.

Design and use

The VOLTA floor lamp has a calm presence in the space. Its matte black steel structure does not compete with the rest of the furniture — it integrates. It is the kind of piece that stands out when placed just right, but without drawing unnecessary attention. The height of 1510 mm places it at a comfortable scale for lighting a reading area, a corner of the living room or beside a bed.

Estudi Ribaudí's design opts for classic forms without feeling outdated. There is a consistent line running through all the elements of the VOLTA collection, apparent in the finishes and in how the functional details are resolved. In floor lamps, the switch is one of those details: it is well positioned, easy to use and does not look like an afterthought but part of the design.

In the living room, a lamp of these characteristics can work near a sofa or next to a reading armchair. The light it produces is focused and directed to the area where it is placed, allowing lighting zones to be created without needing to install anything on the ceiling or wall. In the bedroom it serves a similar purpose: it replaces or complements the general lighting, allowing you to read or set the mood without turning on the whole room.

In a dining room with strong central lighting, a floor lamp to one side can add warmth and break up the uniformity. It also works in transitional spaces such as a wide hallway, where a floor lamp can mark an area without requiring any construction work. In a hallway, however, it is worth making sure it does not interfere with regular foot traffic given its depth of 450 mm.

The matte black finish of the steel body pairs well with Nordic-style interiors, with light or dark wood furniture, and also with metal elements in other tones. It is not a lamp that imposes a specific style, but it does have its own character. A room with wooden floors, neutral walls and textiles in natural tones is a context where this floor lamp fits effortlessly.

The VOLTA collection also includes wall lights and table lamps, making it possible to create cohesive lighting at different points in the same room. Combining the floor lamp with a table lamp from the same series gives unity to the whole without requiring the furniture to match.

For those renovating a room and looking for a lamp that does not require complex electrical installation, this model is a practical option. Plug it in, switch it on and it works. Light reaches where it is needed without construction work, without holes in the wall and without depending on the layout of existing light points. In a bathroom with sufficient space it could also have a place, although in that case the surrounding conditions would need to be carefully assessed.

Questions and answers

Is the switch on this floor lamp integrated into the body or on the cable?

In the VOLTA collection, the switch on floor lamps is one of the most carefully considered design elements. It is discreetly integrated into the structure, not on the cable, which improves both the visual appearance and ease of use.

What type of bulb do I need to buy for this lamp, and is it included?

The lamp uses an E27 socket and accepts LED bulbs of up to 15 W. The bulb is not included with the product, so it must be purchased separately before using the luminaire.

Is the matte black steel finish resistant to scratching or does it deteriorate easily?

The matte black finish on steel is robust for normal domestic use. To keep it in good condition, simply clean it with a dry or slightly damp cloth, avoiding abrasive products that could scratch or alter the surface.
