Overview

The FARO floor lamp is an option designed for those looking to combine functionality and contemporary aesthetics in the living room, bedroom, or any corner of the home where an independent light source is needed. Its steel structure in a matte black finish and fabric shade give it a clean and balanced character, without falling into decorative excess.

The design is by Estudi Ribaudí, a studio with a recognized track record in lighting and furniture design. That signature ensures that every formal decision — proportions, materials, finishes — responds to considered criteria rather than passing trends.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in the manufacture of luminaires for indoor and outdoor use. Its products are distributed throughout Europe and are distinguished by combining in-house design with solid manufacturing standards.

Installation and specifications

This floor lamp rests directly on the floor without the need for anchors or special tools. Before placing it, make sure there is a nearby power outlet that the cable can reach without tension. The compatible voltage ranges from 100 V to 240 V, so it works with any standard domestic installation. The bulb is not included: you will need an E27 socket bulb, preferably LED, with a maximum power of 15 W.

To keep the steel in good condition, simply wipe it with a dry or slightly damp cloth from time to time. The fabric shade can be cleaned with a soft brush to remove accumulated dust. Avoid harsh chemical products on either surface. Do not leave the lamp on unsupervised for extended periods, and make sure the installed bulb does not exceed the indicated wattage.

Design and use

The pole supporting this lamp is made of steel, a material that provides stability without adding unnecessary bulk. At 5.2 kg net weight, the base is solid enough to remain steady in any position, with no risk of tipping over with everyday use. The height of 1170 mm places it at a comfortable proportion for illuminating reading areas, living room corners, or spaces next to the sofa or bed.

The fabric shade is the element that defines the visual character of this piece. Unlike other materials such as glass or metal, fabric filters light in a warmer and more diffused way, creating an atmosphere without harsh contrasts. This makes it especially useful in the bedroom, where intense lighting can be uncomfortable. It also works well in the living room as complementary lighting, adding a warm point of light without replacing the general ceiling lighting.

In the dining room, a floor lamp placed to one side can enhance the ambiance during dinner without relying on the ceiling. In the hallway, it provides discreet orientation lighting that does not require switching on the entire electrical installation. It also fits well in a spacious bathroom, as long as it is placed away from the wet area and basic electrical safety regulations are observed.

The matte black finish of the steel body is one of the features that makes this lamp modern without being eye-catching. Matte black does not reflect or accumulate fingerprints as easily as glossy finishes, and it integrates naturally into contemporary, Nordic, or minimalist interiors. It pairs well with light wood furniture, neutral-toned walls, and dark wood surfaces alike. Wood brings warmth to the overall composition, and the black steel acts as a visual counterweight that balances the space.

The shade, with a diameter of 500 mm, has a sufficient presence to project light over a wide radius without taking up too much visual space. It is not an imposing shade, but neither is it so discreet as to disappear. That proportion means the lamp works both in spacious rooms and in more intimate spaces, such as a medium-sized bedroom or a reading nook.

The design signed by Estudi Ribaudí is evident in the proportional details: the balance between the height of the pole and the size of the shade, the choice of fabric as a counterpoint to the metal, the austerity of the finish. There are no superfluous elements. Every part serves a function, and the result is a lamp that does not need to impose itself to have a presence in the space.

Questions and answers

Does the floor lamp include an E27 bulb at the time of purchase?

No, the bulb is not included. You will need to purchase separately an E27 socket bulb, preferably LED, with a maximum power of 15 W to comply with the product specifications.

Is the steel body with a matte black finish resistant to scratches from daily use?

The matte finish is less sensitive to visible marks than glossy finishes, but steel can be scratched by hard objects. It is recommended to clean with a soft cloth and avoid contact with abrasive materials.

Does the fabric shade affect the amount of light projected by the lamp?

Yes, the fabric filters and diffuses the light, reducing its direct intensity. The result is softer, more enveloping illumination, suitable for rest environments or areas where high-power functional lighting is not required.
