Overview

DOME is a floor lamp designed by Faro Lab that fits wherever light is needed without fixed installation. It works in the living room, bedroom, hallway, or any corner of the home where you want to add warmth without construction or drilling. It is placed directly on the floor and plugged in: no complications, no electrician required.

What sets this lamp apart is the combination of a clean silhouette with a diffusing shade that distributes light evenly. There are no bright spots or harsh shadows. The dimmable function allows you to adjust the intensity depending on the time of day or the atmosphere you want to create.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Their products are found in both homes and professional interior design projects, reflecting a level of manufacturing that works well in very different contexts.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. As a floor lamp with floor mounting, it does not require anchoring to a wall or ceiling. Simply choose the location, place it on a flat and stable surface, and connect it to a standard 220 V–240 V outlet. Before fitting the bulb, make sure the lamp is unplugged. Use an LED bulb with an E27 base and a maximum power of 20 W. Do not exceed this limit to avoid overheating.

Use and maintenance. To clean the steel body in matte black finish, use a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents that may damage the finish. Clean the diffusing shade carefully, without excessive pressure. Do not handle the bulb while the lamp is on or just after switching it off. If you need to replace the bulb, wait until it has completely cooled down before touching it.

Design and use

The DOME lamp starts from a simple idea: that floor lighting can be functional and have visual presence at the same time. The design reinterprets classic forms with a contemporary language, resulting in straight lines and a shade that recalls traditional domes, but with a more refined geometry. There are no unnecessary ornaments. Every element serves a purpose.

The body is made of steel with a matte black finish. It is a neutral tone that does not impose itself but does not go unnoticed either. It pairs with light surfaces, with natural textures such as wood or wicker, and also with more industrial settings where metal takes center stage. In a living room with light wood furniture, the lamp acts as a dark counterpoint that balances the composition.

In the bedroom, a floor lamp next to the nightstand or in a side corner completely changes the perception of the space. The light projected by DOME is neither direct nor harsh. The diffusing shade filters the beam and turns it into soft lighting, ideal for relaxed reading or for creating a calm atmosphere before sleep. With the dimmable function, intensity can be adjusted without having to get up to look for an additional switch.

In the dining room, this type of lighting complements a ceiling lamp well. While the overhead light illuminates the table, the floor lamp adds warmth to the sides of the room and prevents the space from having shadowy areas. The result is more enveloping and balanced lighting than what a single light source provides.

In the hallway, where lighting is often sparse or poorly considered, a floor lamp changes the feel of the space without the need to intervene in the existing electrical installation. DOME has a height of 1423 mm, making it visible and effective even in passageway corridors.

In mixed-use spaces, such as a living room that also serves as a work or reading area, the ability to regulate light intensity is particularly useful. With more light, the atmosphere invites concentration. With less, it becomes more intimate and relaxed. The same lamp fulfills two different functions effortlessly.

The satin finish of the steel does not reflect light specularly, making it more discreet than a glossy finish. This allows the lamp to blend in without stealing attention from the rest of the furniture. At the same time, its rounded silhouette and size make it sufficiently present so that it does not go unnoticed.

The E27 base is one of the most common on the market, making it easy to find compatible bulbs from different brands and color temperatures. Depending on whether a warm or neutral light bulb is chosen, the character of the lamp can vary considerably. With warm light, the atmosphere is cozier and more domestic. With neutral light, the space gains in clarity.

DOME is also suitable for contract environments: hotels, cafés, coworking spaces, or consulting rooms where quality lighting is sought with a design that does not date over time. Its steel construction gives it durability, and its modern aesthetic allows it to fit into projects with defined aesthetic criteria.

Questions and answers

Does the DOME lamp need to be fixed to the wall or ceiling to remain stable?

No. DOME is a floor lamp that rests directly on the floor. It does not require any type of anchoring to a wall or ceiling. It only needs a flat surface and a standard 220 V–240 V outlet near the location where it will be placed.

What type of bulb does it require and what is the maximum permitted wattage?

The lamp uses an E27 base, compatible with most LED bulbs on the market. The maximum permitted power is 20 W. This limit must not be exceeded in order to ensure safe operation and extend the life of the product. The bulb is not included.

Is the matte black finish on the body resistant to everyday use?

The steel body with matte black finish is designed for domestic use or standard contract environments. It is a finish that withstands light rubbing and regular cleaning with a damp cloth. It is recommended to avoid abrasive products or solvents to maintain the original appearance of the finish.
