Overview

TWIST 300 is an outdoor lamp from the TWIST series, designed by Estudi Ribaudí for the brand FARO. It mounts directly on the wall and works well on terraces, patios, house entrances, or gardens where discreet yet characterful lighting is needed.

The latticed body of this lamp creates an interplay of light and shadow on nearby surfaces. It is not just about illuminating — the visual effect it generates on the wall or floor is part of the result. It is a piece that fulfils its function without taking up more space than necessary, while also offering something more than just light.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in interior and exterior lighting. Its products combine functional design with materials suited to different usage conditions. The TWIST series is a good example of that approach: simple to install and carefully finished.

Installation and specifications

To install this wall-mounted lamp, a recessed box or an electrical connection point in the wall is required. Before securing the body, check that the cables are long enough to reach the device's connection terminals. Make sure the mounting surface is flat and stable. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician, with the power cut off at the electrical panel. Do not connect the lamp if the wall wiring is not properly protected.

The aluminium body holds up well under typical outdoor conditions. To keep the finish in good condition, clean the surface with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive products or solvents. The PC diffuser may accumulate dust over time — a soft cloth is sufficient to clean it without causing damage. Do not wet the electrical components or install the lamp in areas where it is directly exposed to water jets.

Design and use

The TWIST 300 lamp has an aluminium body with a latticed structure. That lattice is not merely a decorative element — it is the reason this lamp produces a different effect from a conventional surface luminaire. When switched on, light passes through the structure and projects patterns onto the wall, the floor, or any nearby surface. At night, that interplay of light and shadow completely changes the perception of the outdoor space.

The opal PC diffuser softens the direct light output. This prevents glare and distributes the illumination more evenly. At 3000K, the colour temperature is warm, close to traditional incandescent light. That tone works well in gardens and terraces because it creates a welcoming feel without being excessively yellow.

The integrated SMD LED has a power of 10W. For a wall-mounted outdoor lamp, that figure is adequate to illuminate a passage area, an entrance, or a garden corner without needing to combine it with other light sources. The lamp comes with the light source included, so there is no need to find a compatible bulb or make any additional adjustments.

The dark grey finish of the body is neutral and adapts easily to facades of different colours. It does not draw excessive attention during the day, but it does not disappear either. On stone, concrete, or exposed brick walls it fits naturally. It also works well alongside aluminium or steel joinery, which shares that same chromatic register.

For terraces with outdoor furniture in dark or metallic tones, this lamp maintains visual coherence effortlessly. In a more classic garden, the contrast of the dark grey against a white or light-coloured wall looks clean and orderly. When combined with other pieces from the TWIST series, the effect in the space is more pronounced and controlled.

The height of 300mm makes it a medium-sized lamp, sufficient to create presence on the wall without appearing bulky. Its depth of 145mm means it protrudes just the right amount from the wall plane. It does not interfere with shutters or adjacent elements if the installation point is planned carefully.

A lantern or ground spike would be other options for a garden, but a wall-mounted lamp like the TWIST 300 has clear advantages: it takes up no floor space, it cannot be tripped over, and the installation height can be adjusted to suit each situation. For entrance lighting, for example, placing it at eye level or slightly above delivers good results both functionally and visually.

Questions and answers

Does the TWIST 300 lamp include the LED light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The 10W SMD LED light source is already included. There is no need to purchase any additional bulb or make any prior adaptations before installation.

What voltage does this outdoor lamp operate at?

It operates within a voltage range of 100V to 240V, making it compatible with the standard electrical installation in Spain and in most European countries.

Is the aluminium body of the lamp suitable for installations in outdoor garden areas?

Yes. Aluminium is a common material in outdoor luminaires due to its durability and low maintenance requirements. The dark grey finish is designed precisely for outdoor use in settings such as gardens or terraces.
