The TIL beacon by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed to be installed at ground level. Installation and specifications

Before installing the beacon, make sure you have a 24V DC power source at the installation point. The lamp runs on direct current, so you will need a compatible transformer or controller if your domestic network is 220V AC. The fixture is floor-mounted: prepare the base in advance, keeping the wiring well protected and de-energized during installation. If you have any doubts about the electrical installation, consult an electrician before starting.

To keep the finish in good condition, clean the surface of the aluminum body with a damp cloth and a neutral product. Avoid abrasives and strong solvents, which can deteriorate the rust brown tone. The transparent glass diffuser is also cleaned with a damp cloth. Do not carry out cleaning tasks while the lamp is connected to the power supply.

Design and use

The TIL beacon has a simple, compact structure. With a height of 300 mm and a narrow profile of 45 mm wide, it takes up little space on the ground and does not interfere with pedestrian traffic. Despite its small size, it weighs 1.67 kg, which gives it stability once correctly anchored.

The body is made of aluminium with a rust brown finish. Aluminium is a weather-resistant and lightweight material that does not rust in humid conditions. The rust tone brings an industrial yet rustic character, reminiscent of naturally aged materials. This combination is uncommon in conventional outdoor lamps, and makes the beacon work as a decorative element without the need to highlight it.

The diffuser is made of transparent glass. It lets light through without filters, making the most of the 2700K color temperature of the COB LED. This technology concentrates several light points into a single compact source, generating uniform, flicker-free illumination. The resulting light is warm, similar to that of an oil lantern or a candle, without the excessive yellow that low-energy bulbs sometimes produce.

The beacon operates at 24V DC. This makes it particularly suitable for outdoor installations where high voltage in walkways, damp gardens or pool areas is to be avoided. By working at low voltage, the electrical risk is considerably reduced. In this type of installation it is common to connect several lights to the same transformer, which allows continuous lighting runs to be created along a path or perimeter.

In a garden, the beacon can follow the line of a path or mark the edges of a lawn area. The warm tone of the light enhances the vegetation without overexposing it, and the rust brown finish integrates the lamp into the natural environment. Next to low shrubs or dark-leaved plants, the contrast between the metal and the vegetation is visually balanced.

In access corridors or pedestrian areas, it serves a practical function: indicating the route without the need to install overhead lighting. It can be combined with other beacons of the same model to create a uniform sequence, or with wall lanterns that maintain the same color tone. Consistency in color temperature across different lighting points gives a sense of order and continuity.

On a terrace or patio, the beacon provides ground-level light that complements other higher light sources. It does not produce harsh shadows or glare zones, making it comfortable for spaces where people remain seated for hours. The industrial character of the finish pairs well with metal or dark wood furniture, and with matte tile or earth-toned stoneware flooring.

Does the beacon include the light source or does it need to be purchased separately?

The lamp includes the light source. It has an integrated 3W COB LED source, so no additional component needs to be purchased for illumination.

What type of transformer do I need to connect this beacon?

The beacon operates at 24V DC. You will need a transformer or controller that converts the domestic mains voltage (220V AC) to 24V direct current. The transformer is not included and must be purchased separately.

Does the aluminium body with a rust brown finish withstand prolonged exposure to water and outdoor humidity well?

Aluminium is corrosion-resistant and withstands outdoor exposure well. The rust brown finish is part of the surface treatment of the body, so it maintains its appearance under normal outdoor conditions if periodic cleaning with a damp cloth is carried out.
