Overview

The SCREEN beacon by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed to illuminate pathways, gardens, and open spaces in a clear and consistent manner. It is installed directly in the ground and provides a 360-degree light distribution, meaning it illuminates in all directions without leaving any areas in shadow.

The body is made of aluminium and polycarbonate, materials that hold up well under outdoor conditions. It features IP65 protection against rain and solid bodies, and IK10 impact resistance. This makes it suitable not only for a private garden, but also for public spaces or areas with frequent foot traffic.

FARO is a Spanish brand with a track record in technical and decorative lighting. Their products combine functionality with a careful finish, and the SCREEN collection is a good example of that.

Installation and specifications

Preparation and installation. This lamp is fixed to the ground, so before installing it, it is advisable to plan the routing of the electrical cabling. If the ground is soft, it is recommended to use a concrete base or the corresponding anchor to ensure the stability of the post light. The electrical connection must be carried out by a qualified electrician, as this is a mains-powered outdoor luminaire. Check that the available voltage is within the indicated range before connecting it.

Use and maintenance. To clean the lamp, use a damp cloth and a mild detergent. Avoid abrasive products or solvents, which can damage the finish of the body and the diffuser. Although the beacon has IP65 protection, periodically check that the seals and connections are in good condition, especially after winter. Do not handle the light source or the interior of the luminaire without first disconnecting it from the mains.

Design and use

The SCREEN collection is designed for those who need outdoor lighting that works well without drawing too much attention. This beacon has a clean profile and a height of 800 mm, making it visible along the path without being bulky. Its square shape and the dark grey colour of the body give it a discreet appearance that fits well with modern gardens, building entrances, or thoughtfully designed pedestrian walkways.

The transparent polycarbonate diffuser distributes light evenly around the lamp. The 360-degree option is especially useful when the beacon is placed in the middle of a path or in an area where visibility is needed from any angle. There are no dark zones on the sides, nor is light concentrated at a single point.

The colour temperature of 4000K produces a neutral white light. It is not as warm as a classic bulb, but it does not feel cold or clinical either. It is a tone that allows you to see the details of the surroundings clearly without altering the atmosphere of the garden. This type of lighting works well at entrances, access paths, terrace edges, or outdoor rest areas.

The post light uses COB LED technology, which concentrates multiple light points into a single compact source. This translates into powerful illumination with a consumption of only 20W. The light source is included, so the lamp is ready to install without the need to purchase additional components.

The materials chosen for this luminaire are aluminium and polycarbonate. Aluminium provides rigidity and corrosion resistance, while polycarbonate is a technical plastic that holds up well against impacts and temperature changes. The combination of both is common in outdoor products that must withstand years of use without visibly deteriorating. The IK10 resistance indicates that the lamp can withstand mechanical impacts of a certain intensity, making it suitable for areas with pedestrian movement or at risk of accidental knocks.

As for where to place it, the options are wide. In a private garden it can be used to mark the path from the entrance to the front door. On a larger terrace it can be combined with other wall lights or recessed floor spotlights to create balanced lighting. In communal spaces, such as the entrance to a building or a small park, it performs its function well thanks to its durability and IP65 protection against rain.

The dark grey colour of the body is an advantage from an aesthetic point of view. It is not a black or silver post light, but an intermediate tone that does not stand out excessively during the day and blends well into the surroundings at night. If the garden already features aluminium or dark steel elements, this beacon will fit in effortlessly.

Questions and answers

Does the SCREEN beacon require a separate light source, or is one already included?

The lamp includes the COB LED light source. It is not necessary to purchase any additional components before installing it.

What level of protection does this luminaire offer against rain and impacts?

It features IP65 protection, which guarantees high resistance against rain and solid bodies. In addition, it has IK10 impact resistance, suitable for areas with frequent foot traffic or use.

Does the 360-degree option cover the full circumference or only certain angles?

The 360-degree light distribution is symmetrical, meaning it illuminates equally in all directions. It is especially useful when the beacon is installed in the centre of a path or at a point where visibility is needed from multiple angles.
