Overview

The SCREEN beacon by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed to illuminate paths, gardens and parks in an orderly and safe manner. It is installed directly in the ground and projects light upwards, marking routes or highlighting passageways without the need for complex installations.

The 360º version distributes light symmetrically in all directions, making it especially useful when complete coverage of the surrounding area around the installation point is needed. No dark spots or harsh lighting contrasts remain.

FARO is a Spanish company with decades of experience in technical and decorative lighting. Their outdoor products combine genuine durability with a clean and coherent visual result.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the beacon, make sure the ground point where it will be fixed is level and free of accumulated moisture. As this is an outdoor lamp with ground mounting, it is important that the connection cables are properly channelled and protected from the inside to the anchoring point. Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician, as it involves connection to the mains electricity supply. Verify that the voltage available in the installation corresponds to the values indicated in the specifications before connecting.

For cleaning, a slightly damp cloth on the aluminium body and the transparent polycarbonate diffuser is sufficient. Avoid abrasive products or solvents, as they can damage the finishes. Periodically check the condition of the diffuser to ensure there is no accumulation of dirt affecting luminous performance. Do not handle the lamp while the installation is connected to the power supply.

Design and use

The SCREEN collection was created with a clear objective: to offer technical outdoor lighting that works well under real conditions of use. The beacon is built from aluminium and polycarbonate, two materials that combine lightness with durability. The aluminium provides structural solidity and withstands temperature changes well. The polycarbonate diffuser, in a transparent finish, allows light to pass through without distorting it or reducing its reach.

The IK10 rating indicates the maximum resistance to mechanical impacts within the standard scale. This means the lamp can be exposed to accidental knocks, something that in a garden or park occurs more frequently than expected: grazing by maintenance equipment, balls, branches. The IP65 rating guarantees complete protection against dust and against pressurised water jets, which comfortably covers heavy rain and garden irrigation systems.

The colour temperature of 4000K places this lamp in the neutral white light range. It is a light that neither leans towards yellow nor blue, and is comfortable for passageways or areas where real visibility is needed without creating a cold atmosphere. In a garden illuminated with this beacon, paths are clearly visible and the surroundings do not lose their natural appearance once night falls.

The SCREEN series lantern has a height of 800 mm, positioning it at a moderate height from the ground, sufficient for the light to reach the surrounding area well without being glaring to those walking nearby. The 160 mm square base makes the installation stable and compact.

This beacon fits well in private gardens with a modern design, but also in common areas of residential developments, pedestrian access ways, parks and public-use patios. It can be combined with other outdoor luminaires to create a continuous line of lighting along a path, or used individually to highlight a specific area. The dark grey colour of the body blends in without drawing attention during the day, and at night the light takes centre stage.

The DALI version allows this lamp to be integrated into lighting control systems, facilitating intensity adjustments according to the time of day or the needs of the space. For larger installations, such as parks or common areas, this can make a real difference in consumption and ease of management.

The lantern comes with the light source included: a 20 W COB LED module that offers efficient performance for the type of outdoor lighting this beacon covers.

Questions and answers

What does it mean that this beacon has an IK10 rating?

IK10 is the maximum level of protection against mechanical impacts according to the European standard. It indicates that the lamp can withstand impacts of up to 20 joules without its structure or functioning being affected. It is an important value for installations in gardens or passageways where the risk of accidental knocks exists.

Is this lamp compatible with DALI control systems?

Yes, this version of the SCREEN beacon is compatible with the DALI protocol, which allows it to be dimmed and integrated into installations with centralised lighting control. It is useful in projects where the intensity of several lights needs to be adjusted from a single point.

Does the IP65 rating protect the lamp against automatic garden irrigation?

Yes. The IP65 rating guarantees total protection against dust and against direct water jets. An automatic irrigation system poses no risk to the functioning of this outdoor lamp.
