Overview

The SCREEN beacon by FARO is an outdoor lamp designed to illuminate pathways, gardens, and green areas. It is installed directly in the ground and projects light upward, marking routes or highlighting specific areas of an outdoor space. The 180° version distributes illumination asymmetrically, allowing light to be directed where it is needed most without wasting it in unnecessary directions.

The lamp body combines aluminum and polycarbonate, materials that hold up well in outdoor conditions. The IP65 rating means that rain, dust, and other solid elements do not affect its operation. The IK10 rating indicates resistance to impacts, which is useful in high-traffic areas such as parks or entrances. The SCREEN collection is built to last in demanding environments, without the need for frequent replacements.

FARO is a Spanish brand with decades of experience in technical and decorative lighting. Its outdoor products combine real performance with a clean, functional design.

Installation and specifications

Before installing the beacon, verify that the electrical connection point is protected and complies with regulations for outdoor installations. As this is a ground-mounted lamp, it is advisable to hire an electrician to prepare the underground power outlet. Plan the position before digging trenches or making holes, taking into account the 180° asymmetric lighting direction to make the most of the light distribution.

To clean the surface, a damp cloth and mild detergent are sufficient. Avoid abrasive products that could scratch the polycarbonate or damage the aluminum finish. Although the IP65 rating allows contact with water, do not direct a pressure jet directly onto the seals or the diffuser. Periodically check that the base is firmly fixed to the ground, especially after periods of heavy rain or frost.

Design and use

The SCREEN beacon is part of a technical outdoor lighting collection. It stands 800 mm tall with a base of 160 × 160 mm, making it a slender-profile lamp that does not take up too much visual space while performing its function well. The dark grey finish integrates naturally into stone, concrete, or gravel surfaces, without drawing attention during the day.

The transparent polycarbonate diffuser allows the light source to be seen directly and enables the beam to be projected clearly. The 20W COB LED technology provides efficient illumination with a color temperature of 4000K, a neutral white light that improves visibility without feeling cold or overly intense. This type of lighting works well both in private gardens and in semi-public spaces such as parks or building entrances.

The 180° asymmetric option is especially useful when the lamp is placed next to a wall, a fence, or the edge of a path. Instead of illuminating in all directions, it concentrates the light toward the area that needs it. This prevents the lantern from disturbing people walking nearby and reduces light spillage into areas where it serves no useful purpose.

The lantern withstands impacts thanks to the IK10 rating, one of the highest levels of mechanical protection. This is relevant in high-traffic areas where the lamp may receive accidental knocks. The IP65 effectively protects against rain and dust, without the need to install any additional casing.

This beacon does not include a motion sensor and is not rechargeable. It operates connected to the mains at 220V–240V, ensuring constant, uninterrupted illumination. It is also independent of sunlight, so its performance does not vary with the season or weather conditions. For those looking for a beacon with a motion sensor, or a rechargeable solar option, this version does not cover that use.

The lamp is installed in the ground with underground wiring. It is a common solution in garden lighting projects, both for single-family homes and collective-use environments. Several units placed at regular intervals along a path create an orderly and practical effect that improves nighttime visibility without requiring higher-power lights.

The aluminum body provides structural strength without adding excessive weight. Combined with the polycarbonate, the result is a lamp that stands up well to outdoor conditions over time. The design of the SCREEN collection is functional and discreet, intended to blend into different types of environments without creating visual contrast.

Questions and answers

Does the SCREEN beacon include protection against water and impacts?

Yes. It features IP65, which protects against rain and solid objects, and an IK10 rating, which ensures resistance to mechanical impacts. Both protections make it suitable for continuous outdoor use.

What does the 180° asymmetric lighting option mean?

Instead of projecting light in all directions, this version concentrates the beam in a semicircle. It is useful when the lamp is placed next to a wall or the edge of a path, as it directs light where it is needed and avoids unnecessary spillage.

Is the COB LED lamp included with the product?

Yes, the 20W COB LED light source is included. No additional bulb needs to be purchased to put the beacon into operation.
